"I look hideous." Pariah comments, looking at herself in the mirror.
"A bit of an overstatement." Lady Ghost replied, sitting across Pariah's room in a suede chair.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Fine."
Pariah looks back from the mirror.
"Do you think Dexter will like how I look?" She asks.
Camille expression changes once again to one she hasn't used in years. Pariah legitimately wanted her genuine opinion.
The poor girl. I hardly deserve her.
"If he drew a sketch of you when you were covered in dirt, I'm sure he'll like you now."
Pariah blushes slightly.
"Are you going to come?" She asks Camille after awhile.
"Clearly." Camille looks down at her outfit.
She was still adamant in wearing a dress, and instead was wearing a dress shirt with tightish pants.
"You look nice."
"thanks.."
Camille noticed Pariah glancing at the golden vent next to her.
"Tell me about what's down there. What did you hear?"
"Voices..."
"And??"
"I breathed in something...it took me to another place."
"What did the voices say, Pariah?"
"Smell the fire."
Dexter stands in the increasingly dense Ball Room, at the center of Numenara. He got ready quick, and didn't know where else to go.
He looked at his watch. Pariah told him to meet her an hour from now, but his watch moved in a hundred different directions.
A well dressed man passes by.
"Excuse me, sir.." Dexter touches his shoulder.
The man turns around, revealing two noses instead of eyes and one eye instead of a nose.
Dexter admits, it startled him.
"Yes?" The man replies.
"Do you..have the time?"
"There's no time in Numenara, son."
"How do people know when the Ball is then?"
"Look out that window boy."
Dexter turned around to look out the window, and behold, a great aquatic creature that glowed like a sun.
"Damn. That's a big fish."
"Wait til you see the Lunarfish." The man walks away.
Dexter walks out of the Ball Room. There was still an hour before the Ball. He might as well go walk around Numenara's Footlight District. It was very...bright.
Lady Ghost washes her face in Pariah's bathroom. She then looks at herself in the mirror.
The stress was getting to her, as she saw some wrinkles next to her eyes.
Damn.
She then looks out over at Pariah, who was struggling to put her hair up in a bun.
Camille makes a face and walks up behind her, flawlessly putting her hair up.
