Emotions

"Bakugo," Bella begins, "why do you blame yourself?"

The sentence shocks almost everyone at the table, considering Bakugo had nothing to do with Lynnette's disappearance. Some can understand why; however, the green-haired male thinks it is a bit out of character.

He understands people change over time—within a few months especially—and to him, it seems the ash-blond male reflected his emotions during his time away when he was working on other projects in his spare time.

Knowing now what the situation is, Bakugo was never at fault, and it's questionable to consider.

"Look," Indigo says, "whatever your brain wracked up over time, it's wrong."

"The issue regarding Lynn," Samuel continues, "is deeper than you think."

"Sam," Andres explains to his brother, "he knows about the case."

"You told him?"

"He got the letter in the mail," Bella replies. "Considering he knows about her life and toured on Sirens' last tour and was involved in everything else that took place, he knows."

A knock on the door interrupts their conversation and makes someone's presence known to everyone in the kitchen area. Confused about who would be here around this time of day, Bella got up and walked to the front door.

"Hello," a dashingly dressed man greets Bella, "is Indigo here?"

Upon hearing the sound of her name, the ashy blonde-haired woman arises from her chair and walks to where the brunette is, and Austin, Indigo's kid, follows suit, where everyone eavesdrops on the conversation.

"Wait," Indigo peeks between the door and the frame, "Fredric? What are you doing here?"

Fredric Vennis, a tall man with dark blue eyes and long, straight reddish hair, neatly combed to the back while leaving his long fringe combed to the left, and the CEO of Vennis Technologies, first established in Germany decades ago, and then transported his stocks to the U.S. to expand sales. With his sales here, business magazines across the U.S. call him the country's most prosperous bachelor. He stands in Bella's doorway wearing a charcoal suit, a white buttoned-up shirt underneath, a crimson red tie, and a pair of black dress-up loafers on his feet.

"I was wondering where you were," Fredric clarifies. "You were supposed to report at my office at seven o'clock this morning. I tried calling, but I got no answer."

At this point, Bella, smirking, gives Indigo a look, enunciating, 'You're bagging a rich man, now,' whereas Indigo gapes at the reddish-haired male with shock.

"You listed your mother as an emergency reference," Fredric justifies, "so my driver and I stopped there first. She mentioned what happened last night regarding your ex and said you went here."

"Fredric, look," Indigo pleads, "I am so sorry I missed my shift–"

"You are fine," the reddish-haired male comforts with a soft smile. However, that changes when the man looks down at Austin, looking like he is still emotionally exhausted. "She told me everything that happened," and looks back at Indigo's red carnation irises.

Indigo, lost for words, looks down at her son, too ashamed to say anything. To her, it's deplorable she can't get away from her past, and she's much more apologetic she forgot her shift was today, thanks to everything that happened last night. Things were never easy for her growing up, and she yearned to change that for her son, but thanks to her baby daddy's antics, he confirmed he'd never leave her be. Will her worry-free life ever become a reality?

Indigo escapes from her daydreaming when she feels the gentle indication of Fredric's fingers softly lifting her head and gazing into her eyes. "Get yourself changed. I'll be waiting in the car."
