"You 'threw a tantrum'?"

"Mhm."

"Do you mean like, you cussed him out or somethin'?"

"I...sure," Illy sighed, running the flat iron through a small section of hair, "I don't know. One minute everything was fine and then I just... lost it."

At the time she'd felt as if she was only a spectator outside of her own body, watching the drama unfold while powerless to stop it.

"Well, how did he react?" Tanisha questioned.

Illy paused.

She remembered his face clear as day, the shock when she pulled her hands away from his grip and shouted a defiant, "No!" In a voice so small yet so powerful.

"Illy-" Dominik's hand had hovered in the air, as if he was unsure of what to do next. He clearly wanted to help, but he seemed hesitant to touch her again lest he make things worse.

Her eyes had filled with tears, her lower lip quivering.

"Oh no," Dominik knew what was next and tried to assert some control over the situation, his voice firm, "Illyana, please don't."

Her face scrunched up.

Her eyebrows twitched.

"No gorgeous, please don't c-" As soon as he touched her, large teardrops plopped out onto her cheeks and streamed down her face.

The floodgates had opened.

Her small frame shook, her fists clenched tightly by her side and Dominik took them, squeezing her hands gently as his gray eyes implored her brown ones, "Illy, baby. Please don't cry. You'll make yourself sick."

Of course, that only caused her to burst into tears, the loud wail causing him to quickly rise from his seat and scoop her into his arms.

Cradling her against his chest, Dominik moved to a quieter corner of the restaurant, away from the prying eyes of the staff while she continued to protest between hiccups, her cries muffled against his shoulder, her body wriggling in his arms, seeking escape.

He held her securely and once they were in a fairly secluded corridor, he let the squirming girl to her feet, holding onto her wrists instead.

He towered over her, his voice taking on a stern tone, "Illy, listen to me-"

"No!" She stomped.

She didn't want to listen. He can't make her.

"Illy, please calm down, baby," Dominik went back to begging.

"No! No! No!" She stomped again, trying to tug herself free, and when she realized she wasn't strong enough, the screaming started.

"Let go!"
