MK's POV:
I take a deep breath and smell Red Sons cologne, bracing myself for what's to come.
"Red Son...I have to tell you something," I say.
His brow furrows and my heart breaks. "Are you okay? I'm sorry, did I do something wrong? I'm sorry."
"No, you did nothing, it's just...the other day I was at Cafe Rosé, where Tim works, and he was kind of...flirting with me?" I flinch at my own words.
Red Sons face falls. "No...no he wouldn't," he murmurs.
I feel terrible. "I swear. He came up to me and said 'hey cutie,'"
He looks heartbroken. "Tim wouldn't do that to me..."
Something else pops into my head. "That's not all. I've been hearing Tim come home really late recently. How long you guys are up for is none of my business but...don't you normally go to bed by at least 1?"
Red Son nods. "Well, he could have been...visiting a friend? I don't know and it's really none of my business. You know, it's really not your business either. Maybe you should let other people live their lives," he gets defensive.
I'm hurt. "Well how do you explain him obviously flirting with me? I know what I heard."
Red Son looks angry and takes a step back from me. "I'm sure he meant it platonically. Look MK, I don't know if you're in love with me or something, but I don't appreciate you trying to end my relationship with Tim. All he's done is be nice and loyal to me meanwhile I've been sneaking around with you. If you want to sleep here tonight, I suggest you stop accusing my boyfriend of things you have no proof on."
Tears start to well up in my eyes, and Red Sons expression softens. "Look MK, I didn't mean that. I'm sorry, it's been a very rough couple of days." He steps closer to me and wraps his arms around my back again, folding me into his warm embrace.
Something he said sticks with me. '...I don't know if you're in love with me or something...' I cringe and pull out of his hug. I'm not in love with him, I should stop acting like it. He has a boyfriend. Why would he want me?
"It's fine," I say, withdrawn.
His warm scarlet eyes search mine. "Do you want to watch a movie? Or we could-"
"I can't. Sorry. I have to go." I say before rushing out the door. I can't face him right now. I'm too afraid he's right. I'm not in love with him. I can't be.
~time skip~
I stare down at my fries, my appetite gone after retelling the days events to Mei.
"Well, are you in love with him MK?" Mei asks, sitting across from me.
I open my mouth to answer and find myself at a loss for words. Am I? I can't be. Plus, his harsh words from earlier are still fresh in my mind. I need to stop. Distance myself from him. I can't get in the way of Red Son's relationship.
"No, I'm not!" I respond, perhaps a little too firmly.
"Whatever," Mei responds, clearly unconvinced. I sigh.
"I have to go Mei, but thanks for having dinner with me,"
"No problem. Good luck with Red Son,"
"Thanks," I say as I walk out of the restaurant, still feeling as miserable as before. I drive to the dorm room I share with Red Son. He's in his room, so I plop down on the couch and fall asleep.
