Warbling and whistling, Kang Thia found herself in the kitchen in the early hours of the morning. Throughout the downstairs of her home, the cheerful melody of the song 'Ice Cream Cake' by Red Velvet could be heard, - probably even upstairs. It certainly wasn't long before Thia's father would line up for the breakfast report - but the 18-year-old girl wasn't thinking about that. Her hips moved loose and fluffy to the music while she made a minefield of flour, ketchup and sweet potatoes on the kitchen island.
Cooking was Thia's passion, even if she wasn't considered a gifted cook. Still, she was always trying new recipes and today she wanted to try some snacks.
Thia loved to be creative in the kitchen, even if it sometimes led to a real battlefield. With a big smile on her lips, she danced around among the ingredients as if she were in her own cooking show called 'Thia's Madness'.
Her dark, straight hair swirled wildly as she reached for more ingredients.
Suddenly, she heard the familiar creak of the stairs.
Thia's father approached the kitchen and was greeted with a broad smile from his daughter. She wiped some of the flour from her face with the sleeve of her pajamas before playfully saluting the man. "Good morning, Kyungho! Hungry?", Thia greeted her father, lowering her arm again to operate the state-of-the-art coffee machine first thing, contrary to her question. No matter how many times Thia asked for it, her father would only ask for coffee anyway, yet she kept asking the same question. Every morning. Just like Kang Kyungho would ask right after, she should just call him 'Father' or 'Papa', which Thia wouldn't do though.
"Don't call me by my first name all the time," he begged, proving her prescience. He walked toward one of the stools located at the kitchen island and settled down on it. His eyes roamed around the large room, which reflected the luxurious lifestyle of the Kang family. High-quality materials, such as flour and oil from Italy and spices from eastern countries, and elegant design characterized the kitchen. Storage spaces for kitchen utensils and machinery were hidden behind the tall cabinets made of gleaming wood.
The walls were clad in fine marble that shimmered in soft cream tones and reflected the daylight streaming in through the large windows.
It was no wonder, then, that Thia loved to cook here.
In the living room, which could be seen through the large archway in the kitchen, stood a large solid oak dining table surrounded by elegant chairs with comfortable cushions. In the center of the table perched a vase of roses from the garden that Thia had cut this morning.
Thia ignored her father's words, humming along to the loud music and bobbing her head as she reached for a cup and poured the freshly made coffee into it. Fortunately, making this cup was very simple, as Kyungho always drank his morning coffee black to start the day. So the single father didn't have to worry about his daughter mixing in some exotic substance to enjoy, as Thia would put it, 'more flavor' in the coffee.
