After two hours, the noise in Villa Kang had quieted down, as Thia had unplugged her smartphone from the Bluetooth connection and headed for the shower. With great attention to detail, she spent about an hour applying her makeup and preparing her long, dark hair as she immersed herself in a world of beauty and elegance. She spent the remaining time choosing the right outfit for the day from a variety of outfits.

"Kai? Will you come here!?", Thia's loud and bright voice rang through the building, even creating a reverberation at its spaciousness.

Regardless of that, the 18-year-old's room was actually not the largest room. One could argue that there were bathrooms in the mansion that were larger, but Thia had chosen it that way herself. She liked tight, cozy rooms, and if you counted the walk-in closet and her own bathroom, her bedroom was big enough.

Bigger than other girls' rooms, anyway.

Earlier, the two had found plenty of places to hide in the Kangs' large mansion. Especially the walk-in closet, which used to be a storage room, had been their secret playground. Here they hid from prying eyes and explored the countless secret alcoves. It had been a maze of shelves, rods and drawers, and had still partly served as a closet for the many elegant coats. The two found pleasure in hiding among the garments and creating their own world. But it wasn't just the walk-in closet that offered them adventure; the numerous secret rooms and hidden corners could also be explored. Even if the years had passed and their paths might soon part, the memories still remained strong in their minds.

"What's the matter? Are you lost in your clothes?" asked Kai as he entered the room. Immediately, a familiar feeling surrounded him and he remembered his former self. Thia was already standing in front of one of the wall-high mirrors that had been attached to the cabinets, turning back and forth in a short gray skirt, a light top and matching white shirt.

Her dark hair fell over her shoulders and her chin kept sticking up.

"What do you think of this? Or is it too drab? I feel like I look like a schoolgirl," she muttered, trying to look at herself in the mirror, repeatedly tugging at her long black stockings that went to mid-thigh so she had the same distance to the skirt on either side. Questioningly, Thia glanced at Kai, turning in all directions so that he could also look at her outfit from every angle.

Kai made an effort to shrug his shoulders indifferently. "Looks good to me," he said, smiling, "but you're probably asking the wrong guy."

After all, she had criticized his outfit earlier.

"Oh, please. We may be longtime neighbors and maybe not exactly best friends, but even you have eyes in your head," Thia grumbled at Kai's indecision, then sighed and brushed her shirt off her shoulders. "You could just pretend I'm someone else and judge whether I look good based on that," Thia added and reached for the outfit, turning her back on Kai as she undressed to try out her next choice. After Thia had removed her blouse and skirt, Kai could spot the small black butterfly on the right side above her buttocks. She had secretly gotten the tattoo two years ago to rebel against her father. Finally, she slipped into a short white cotton dress that gently hugged her shoulders, with accompanying cardigan. Instead of the black leg stockings this time she changed to white ones and after she was done, Thia turned to her neighbor.
