It was nearly a week later that Jungkook had gone to work as usual, arriving at six in the morning— but this time was different than any other.Instead of only seeing Hoseok or the manager as he usually does, Seokjin was standing there, accepting an early coffee from Hoseok's hands.
"Thank you," he told his friend, then started sipping from the straw of the cup he had— he didn't order his usual.
It was weird to see him for the first time since their little incident. He looked different— or maybe Jungkook was just seeing him differently. The complete opposite of what he expected Jwan to look like, not that he really knew how to imagine the guy, but still. He wouldn't have ever expected this.
Seokjin was tall and broad, bigger than Jungkook and bigger than a lot of people, even, but him being an alpha werewolf versus Jungkook being a bunny hybrid— he's big.
And he always wears these button-up shirts and slacks, but today was different. Today he wore a sweater and jeans, much more simple and warmer than usual. It had been getting cold lately.
Jungkook hadn't moved any further since he saw Seokjin was standing there, but as if he had eyes in the back of his head, Seokjin's wolf ears fell back and he turned around, his wide eyes meeting Jungkook's.
"Jungkook..."
Oh.
If he hadn't hidden his ears and tail before work, Jungkook was sure that his ears would be held back in panic of having to talk to Seokjin now of all times.
He had gone to the wolf's dorm, though. Seokjin had ignored him.
So, he ignored Seokjin. He walked right by him and joined Hoseok behind the counter to start preparing for work.
"Jungkook?" Seokjin questioned, but Jungkook wouldn't look at him. "Please. Can we talk? I wanna—"
"No."
Hoseok hurried towards the back, leaving Jungkook alone to the wolf— the wolf who leaned over the counter to see Jungkook more.
"Please, Jungkook. I know you came by the other day. I wanted to talk to you," he told him, though Jungkook still tried so hard to not care. "I was in rut when you came. I couldn't let you in."
Rut.
That damn rut of his.
Jungkook stopped preparing coffee and only stared at the machine for a moment. Seokjin hadn't ignored him when he came to the door; not on purpose. He was in rut and couldn't answer.
Of course.
Of course, Jungkook made a big deal out of nothing again. Of course he thought that Seokjin never cared. His brain had connected the dots— all the wrong dots before— but now, he just feels ridiculous for ever being upset about the whole thing.
When he looked at Seokjin, all fears of thinking he didn't care disappeared because the wolf genuinely looked ... sorry. Just in his eyes, he looked like he was going to cry if Jungkook didn't accept him.
And he was there so early in the morning. Jungkook couldn't help but think the wolf came here specifically to catch him and talk to him.
He came out of his way to come here. The least Jungkook could do was listen.
"Please," Seokjin continued as the realization sank into Jungkook's mind. "I'm begging you, Jungkook. I just want to talk. Can I at least apologize?"
Apologize.
"You don't have to beg me," Jungkook muttered out almost too quietly, but then he cleared his throat. "I wanted to talk to you anyways. I—" miss you, he wanted to say, but he didn't. He couldn't just say that.
He doesn't want to forgive so easily, either. But if he can forgive someone like Chanseok, then he can most definitely forgive Seokjin.
"After work," he told the older. "If you can, I have no classes today. We can talk. I get off at two."
"That's..." Seokjin's eyes brightened up with just those words, glad to even talk with Jungkook. That didn't stop Jungkook from being nervous, though. "That's perfect. I'll definitely be here. Thank you."
He almost— only almost— wanted to smile as he watched Seokjin bite back a grin. He's never seen that before. Ever.
Seokjin took his drink over to one of the tables in the food court— a table that had a laptop already set on it. He must be there to stay.
And just like that, they were finally going to talk it all out, Jungkook's mind open to every little detail he could possibly get about what the fuck Seokjin was doing all along.
