Things were never meant to feel like this.Bouncing his foot on the floor, grip tight on his computer mouse, tense as he clicked to join Seokjin's voice-chat room.
He wasn't so sure about why he was nervous to be getting online with Seokjin. They had done it many times before, had spoken many times before— hell, he wasn't even this nervous when they had that first conversation.
It must be because he finally knows who he's playing with here; the face behind the screen.
"Hello?"
He pulled away from his computer at the sound of Seokjin's voice. It sounded a bit different over the call, but it was so clearly Kim Seokjin. He should've known all along.
"Hi..?" he managed to let out. His voice was small. His roommate was probably looking at him weirdly by now if he wasn't before.
"Hey. You ready to play?"
He was always ready to play his favorite game. He just wasn't sure if he was ready to pretend that this was normal between them— even if it is.
"Yeah. I'm getting on now."
And though he was nervous and a bit shy to talk in the beginning, it became much easier as they spent time playing the game and talking about things thrown in here and there.
Seokjin had asked if he ate that salad, which Jungkook did, and he asked him if work was hard today, told him that all he really did was study, and at some point Seokjin was happy to finally level up in the game.
It was so easy to keep the conversation flowing, so there wasn't an issue there anymore.
The only problem was with Jungkook himself.
From the moment he got in the call, he had turned red like a tomato. The nervous feeling soon added in a warmth— not because he was necessarily comfortable now, but because he was totally blushing.
And smiling. God, was he smiling.
He couldn't stop his lips from tugging upwards at every little animatic sound or the things Seokjin would say. Not only was he funny— which Jungkook already knew— but he had such a great personality in general.
The way he kept joking and messing around, it was like he was intentionally trying to make Jungkook smile.
Or maybe Jungkook just found himself so amused by Seokjin. Amused, yes, but Jungkook totally did not have a crush on him because of those simple things. That would be insane.
He most definitely did not have a crush on Kim Seokjin.
