Ronnie spent most of the day looking at apartments with three bedrooms, she'd found a few and was considering one, it wasn't too expensive and she had her savings, the money her mother left her, the money after the divorce and money she had saved over the years. Bobby rang her after shift to see how she was getting on. "Hey dad, yeah I'm okay, I've found a few one in an apartment block, three bedrooms, on the second floor its called Magnolia Cresent." She told him, he had her on speaker as he sat down at the table with Athena.
"That's the same apartment building as one of the firefighters, Eddie, he has a son, Christopher. Oh, by the way Ronnie, you've got the job and you start next shift." He told her, she smiled but obviously he couldn't see her. "Next shift is in two days, so you have tomorrow off and then shift starts next day." He explained and she nodded as she started to fill out details for the apartment in Magnolia Cresent.
Once she paid and filled her details she got an email of information, when she could move in and how much monthly rent would be. "Thanks dad. I've got an apartment, the one in Magnolia and I can move in from Saturday." She told him, to which he smiled and started talking to his fiancee Athena.
"Dad, who's that in the background with you?" Ronnie asked enquiringly as she started out a message to T.K explaining the situation. Athena snorted at Bobby, wondering how he was going to explain that.
He smiled at her. "Ronnie, that's my fiancee Athena. We're getting married in a few weeks." He told her to which Ronnie smiled and held back tears before taking a few deep breaths.
"I'm happy for you dad, I've got to go and ring the kids, see how they're doing. Organize getting my stuff sent over." She explained as they said their goodbyes and hung up.
She held the phone to her ear as she rang T.K's number and waited for it to pick up. "Hey Ron, how is everything?" T.K answered as she could hear her kids laughing in the background.
She smiled and blinked back tears, as she switched the call to facetime. "Fine I guess, I've just paid a deposit on a three bedroom apartment, my dad gave me a job at his station after we had a yelling match in his office. He said he's sorry and he wants to make a fresh start and I'm ready. He seems like he's doing okay, he looked much better than the last time I saw him. How are my babies?" She asked as she could hear Jade laughing and giggling.
"They're fine. As for Carlos on the other hand not so much, Jade made him play princess tea parties with her and he has a pink tutu and fairy wings and a tiara on. She stole one of your lipsticks and painted his face with it." T.K explained laughing as Jade jumped on him.
"Your tuwn unca T.K! Hi mama! Ook, I a pwincess! An unca Cawos is too!" She giggled waving manically at the phone. Then Matty came running and jumped over the sofa and rolled onto the floor.
Ronnie laughed at her two kids as Matty jumped up and took the phone. "Hi mommy! I'm sorry for being angry, I miss you!" Her son giggled as he ran away from T.K with the phone clasped in his hands. He was holding it close to his face so she could see up his nose.
"Matty, give the phone back to your uncle. I miss you too baby. Guess what, I found an apartment we can live in, you can have a racecar bedroom and Jade a princess room. I got to go babies, go to sleep, remember I love you loads." She said goodbye as Carlos put them in bed and T.K stayed on the phone to Ronnie.
He could tell when she was trying to stay strong for the kids and he knew she was struggling. "Right, so how are you really, Ron?" He asked and that was all it took for her to start crying, he turned the call back to voice and held it to his ear so the kids wouldn't hear their mom breaking down. "What's happened Ronnie?" He asked concern evident in his tone of voice, but all she could do was cry.
