A week later, Ronnie was busy in the kitchen making cookies as the pasta boiled and meatballs in the air fryer as Eddie played candy crush with her children. The pleasant sounds of laughter filled her ears from the living room, warming her heart and placing a small smile on her face. They were taking it slow for both of them, so they didn't rush into it, but one thing they both knew for sure, was that they were happy and they were in love.
They had been dating for just over a month and a half and they were loving it, both were happy and neither had regrets, life was perfect. To a degree. Eddie spent a lot of time round at Ronnie's place with Christopher, Jade and Matthew playing games together, or watching movies. The kids loved seeing eachother most, if not everyday. Chris and Matty went to the same school but were in different grades, due to the two year age gap between the two boys.
The twenty-three year old had decided on spending her sunday off baking sweet treats for her kids and her friends and family. Since she had made Eddie and Christopher chocolate chip cookies, Chris constantly begged her for them and she finally followed through with her promise, seeing as she had the time.
"Mama, are dey ready yet?" Her daughter lisped pointing at the tray of raw cookies causing her to shake her head, huffing out a laugh. Jade still tried to reach for one but Ronnie raised her eyebrows and picked her four year old up, blowing kisses on her tummy, making the little girl laugh brightly, filling Ronnie's heart with happiness.
Eddie had brought Matty and Chris into the kitchen as well, encouraging the two children to steal the bowl of raw cookie dough. "Edmundo!" Ronnie rolled her eyes at the man, setting a bad example to the kids. "They'll be ready in half an hour kids, why don't you go and watch some Bluey?" She smiled, before lightly smacking Eddie upside the head.
Half an hour later she brought the cookies out of the oven, all three of the children came bursting through the door begging to have one. "Please mom." Matthew begged, even going to the lengths of getting on his knees and holding his hands up, resulting in both adults laughing. But that didn't stop one of them from taking one off of the steaming tray and chucking it in his mouth.
Within seconds Eddie had gone bright red, the cookie scalding his mouth, he grabbed a tissue and spat the cookie out onto it, the steam still rising up off the cookie. "See, and that is why we wait." She rolled her eyes at the man, pecking him on the cheek. Christopher started giggling whilst her kids started up the 'eww' chant.
"I knew it!" The eight year old declared pointing at the two adults, who were embracing, both smiling ear to ear. When the cookies were at a sensible temperature and they were all watching a film together, Ronnie started handing them out, each child clamouring for another with one still in their mouths. "Ronnie makes the best cookies." Chris smiled, spraying cookie crumbs everywhere, both adults glared at him playfully.
They had settled on watching frozen, much to Eddie's dismay but he sucked it up and watched it to spend the time with his kid, girlfriend and her kids. Nobody in the team knew about them, but a certain blonde bambi had his suspicions and let on to the rest of the team, betting on how long it would take to find out.
Within thirty minutes of putting the film on, a certain twenty-three year old had fallen asleep on her man's shoulder, her hair coating his shoulder. The kids had piled on around them, but Eddie loved every moment of feeling close to his girlfriend, his woman. At around half past ten, all three children had crashed after a night of sugar and films, Eddie carried each to their bed, placing Chris on the couch as it made sense to stay over.
After sorting out the three children, he picked up Ronnie and gently placed her in her bed, getting in beside her, resting her head on his chest. Within moments, both adults were fast asleep.
