-- Casey's POV --
-- One Week Later --I tossed around my bed, trying every position to feel comfortable but i have been trying to do that the past hour. My mind constantly at race and not leaving me alone.
I had decided to try and sleep in early this time, maybe have me eased out from the pouring rain and lightning but there wasn't any difference. Struggling to close my eyes for peace as it was almost 11 pm now.
I can't say that i haven't recovered from what i did to Alex. It genuinely shocked me from how easily that situation blew past my thoughts but it didn't help me relax at all.
It was almost like i'm sad and miserable from being aparted from Laila the past week. I guess it was a decision of mine to distance each other. I wanted to wrap my mind around everything i went through and fucking witnessed, thinking that it would help me get back on track.
It was a huge relief to know that Laila had gotten care of the bodies. Not a single soul knocking on my door to say that i'm being taken away for murder and the same for Laila, at least i believe so..
I shut my eyes for the hundred time so far, taking in breaths and slowly feeling myself sink into the bed.
Just than i heard the doorbell across the house, my eyes shooting open. I can't breathe for a single second, can i?!
I pushed myself out the bed, slowly walking over to the front door. Yet it was confusing me even more since i took my sweet ass time to move and see who is here at such hours but not another doorbell sound went off.
I unlocked it and just gapped the door open, scanning that no one was standing there. I wasn't about to risk anything but before i closed it back, my eyes landed on something that's on my doormat.
I pulled the door further open and grabbed the box in quickly to avoid getting wet from the rain, locking the door behind. I walked to the dining table and placed it down, scanning the lettering on the outside.
"For my beloved, darling." I read it out loud but refused to express any emotions about it yet. I pulled the tape off the top and opened it up, the sight of a bouquet of roses filling my eyes. I took them out but a card immediately dropped from them on the ground.
I picked it up and opened it. I didn't even realize that my lips formed a smile as i read the sweet and loving words that Laila had written. But as i realized, i immediately blocked myself from feeling effected.
I pulled the roses closer to me, giving off the beautiful scent of Laila's perfume mixed with the flower smell.
It was extremely hard to distance myself yet i needed the understanding about what i want in my life. The genuine betray i feel from knowing that Laila had the slightest idea of feeling fine about messing with my best friend has me shattered. I'm still grateful to know that the child at most wasn't from her..
-- Laila's POV --
"That is insane, bud. Listen, i wasn't involved in any of that nor did i know who this Natalie really is but god did you get fucking messed with." Grace spoke out after i explained the whole thing. "I'm just hurt that Casey is making herself distant though. We obviously talked over it the same day and i gave my acceptance to have her off work but i can't feel fine without knowing if she's okay." I downed the alcohol glass, placing it away on the coffee table.
"I mean the gift was a good idea. What lady doesn't enjoy a surprise better yet something so romantic." She looked at me, making a point. "That doesn't calm my nerves. I physically need to see her, for fuck sake feel her close to me." I brushed my fingers through my hair, giving out a sigh to the frustration.
"Just go, Laila. I can see that the week has put you through a lot with thinking about her every moment. It's not like you two had a break up so she has no reason to completely kick you out the house."
I know i needed this. It was obvious that Casey wasn't absolutely terrified out her mind from being so involved with criminal activity yet such a innocent person can't cope alone.
I agreed on Grace's idea and left her house, rushing through the rain and over to my car. I switched the engine on and drove off, in no time getting to her place.
I stood in front of the door, hesitating if i should ring it since the time was almost midnight by now. But i reached my hand out, doing it anyway.
Taking a quick glance back, i locked the car from here as i had forgotten. Seeing the weather worsen even more, my clothes getting absolutely soaked.
It took a minute or so before the door finally opened, Casey looking at me with pure shock. "Are you insane?! Driving here in such weather!" Her voice immediately yelled at me, scanning me out as i stepped in. "Listen, i don't care. I couldn't take it anymore, i wanted to see you. Know that you're fine and safe." I absorbed her close and lock the door before our eyes met.
"Laila." She stepped closer to me, wrapping her arms around me as i tightened the hug. "I lost every single brain cell from not seeing you through the days." I spoke out next to her ear. Feeling her pull away but still keep us close. "Laila, i now know what i want to keep in my life forever." She pulled up a smile while saying it. "It's you." Our lips immediately locked, giving in to the most loving kiss i could only dream of.
