The heroes were walking through the town and helping all the citizens. Sonic was all laid back and relieved that the town was now in order. They were all happy to be in Hero Town.
"This place is awesome Sonic! I love Hero Town so much and I'm so glad Tails made a fantastic suggestion!" Kirby cheered. They continued walking down the streets of the town where they spotted Classic Sonic and Tails trying to get some food.
Sonic sighed, "A perfect time around here, Hero Town is just the perfect place!" The heroes all nodded as they continued walking and all the citizens were happy and filled with glee. Then the heroes stopped, they watched as the citizens continued chatting with each other.
"I guess this makes this our new home temporarily! What do you all say?" Mario asked.
Sonic laughed, "I'm down for that!" Kirby also nodded in agreement as Mario smiled at them. "But the real question is, who's the team leader?"
"I say you since you're the mayor!" Kirby yelled.
Sonic giggled nervously, "That's really nice of you but I already have such a major role! I want to hand it to Mario to be the team leader." Mario looked at Sonic in shock as Kirby nodded in agreement.
Mario laughed, "If you insist, I'll be the team leader!" The heroes smiled but before long there were slight rumbling in the distance. "WAH! What the heck!?"
Kirby questioned, "What was that rumbling for?" The heroes looked around the area until they saw someone flying in the air. It was... Meta Knight? "META KNIGHT!! IT'S SO AWESOME TO SEE YOU HERE!"
Meta Knight muttered, "Hmph, I don't have time for this nonsense Kirby..."
"W-What are you talking about?" Kirby questioned. Meta Knight landed on the ground and stared at the heroes. The heroes stood three in confusion as Meta Knight drew out his sword. "M-Meta! What gives?!"
Meta Knight muttered, "Hmph, so you're the heroes of this town aren't you? I challenge you all to a duel."
"Well that's easy, there's one of you and three of us! That would be unfair but we're willing to try!" Sonic laughed. Meta Knight looked over and saw a girl dashing over. She had pink hair and her hair was tied up into a braid. "Oh... looks like you have backup but you're still outnumbered!"
Meta Knight asked, "Are you so certain about that? Well we may be outnumbered but we have skill..." The heroes all stood there staring as Meta Knight got ready. Soon the battle began. Meta Knight swung his sword as the heroes jumped out of the way.
Kirby questioned, "I got a quick question, who are you anyways?" He turned toward the girl as she got her sword ready.
"My name is Tessa... other than that we will destroy you..." The heroes dashed at them as Tessa and Meta Knight placed their blades against the heroes. Sonic rolled backward and dashed over to kick and then punch Tessa. She fell backward as Meta Knight rose into the air and started diving down toward the heroes.
Kirby took out the sword copy ability and clashed his blades with Meta Knight. The two pushed on each other as Mario and Sonic dashed in to deal with Tessa. That's when Tessa used a gadget and got the two tied up.
"GAH! WHAT THE-" Sonic grunted as he tried to break free. Mario tried to break free as well but both of them were unsuccessful. Tessa dashed over to help Meta Knight but Kirby felt himself losing against the two.
"HANG ON!" Someone shouted. Then there was a laser lasso that was thrown at the two. They were caught in it and fell down. Kirby looked over and saw it was Tails. Meta Knight and Tessa got out of the rope and looked around at the heroes. Tails helped Sonic and Mario free as Meta Knight took a deep breath.
Meta Knight groaned, "We need to get stronger Tessa, let's get going." Tessa nodded as the two dashed away from the town. The heroes all stood there staring in confusion as Kirby turned toward the heroes.
"Are you guys good?" Kirby questioned.
Sonic grunted, "We're doing just fine, thanks for checking on us though." Kirby nodded as Tails stood there staring at the heroes.
Tails asked, "What's up with Meta Knight and Tessa? It's not like Meta Knight to attack us and I'm not so sure about Tessa..." The heroes looked over toward where Meta Knight and Tessa ran and looked back at Tails.
"I wish we knew, but right now that's not important. Let's get back to the town-"
"Actually about that..." Tails muttered.
Sonic asked, "Oh god... did something happen?"
"Something sure did happen, I'm not even a hundred percent sure what even caused it but we better check it out," Tails replied. The heroes nodded as Tails led the way.
Sonic asked, "What do you think even happened?"
Tails replied, "I'm not sure what it was, but it's started infecting some of the heroic people in this town. The citizens are unharmed but maybe Amy knows what's going on."
"Amy? Are you sure?" Tails nodded as they made it to the Mayor's office. From there Amy was there fixing the papers at the receptionist desk.
Tails announced, "Amy? Can you let the heroes know what's going on?"
"Yeah, maybe we can find a way to quickly resolve this," Amy replied as she handed the group a document. The heroes read over the document and Sonic looked up in confusion.
"Corruption?"
Amy explained, "That's what we all believe it is anyways, you guys should investigate and see what's going on!" The heroes nodded as they walked out of the mayor's office. But suddenly they noticed it was raining.
"Huh, fitting weather... let's get investigating!" Kirby announced. The two nodded as they grabbed their own umbrellas and started searching.
