Chapter 17- The Detective Facility

"Do you think it's reasonable to ask the detective facility to see if they can investigate the case further?" Sonic asked as he looked toward everyone.

Mario asked, "The case of what Dr. Eggman is-a doing? Or something else?"

"Sorta, but mostly to deal with the surrounding mystery around what the hell is going on with the building explosion," The three all nodded.

Tails volunteered, "I can provide them with all the details necessary! I'm pretty good at that!" The heroes all nodded in agreement as Tails dashed ahead. Mario guided the heroes back to the town hall to discuss new plans. Tails kept making his way to the agency and looked around. Apparently, the detectives were already handling some things together. Tails looked around and saw Marth and Eliwood talking with the person.

"Oh! Are you... the officers of the town?" Tails asked. Eliwood looked over and nodded happily. "Cool! Can you inform the detective about helping out with a few things?"

"Sure! He's actually right here, not a permanent one but one that will help out," Eliwood explained. Tails looked over and saw the person standing there in black clothing. He didn't appear to say a word and just stood in silence.

Tails replied, "Hey there! My name is Miles but you're able to call me Tails. I work with the trio of heroes in this town. I just want you to help out with investigating the building explosion?" The person looked at the files Tails had given them. Tails had gotten a look at some for their face. Their eyes were somewhat of a dirty green and the color of their hair was cyan. They nodded but didn't say anything else.

"Oh you're not that much of a talker. That's alright! I just want some help, Marth and Eliwood can help you too!" Tails laughed. Marth and Eliwood smiled as the person nodded. He shook hands with Tails and started investigating the entire case immediately. Tails froze in disbelief of how fast he was working. "Well I'll leave it to you guys! Let Amy, Sonic, or Me know of any leads!"

Marth replied, "Of course, thanks for bringing this up to us and-" Then the person with the hat started doing sign language. "Oh! I can help translate." Tails nodded as the person started signing toward Marth. Tails was easily fascinated how the detective was most likely mute.

Tails mumbled, "I wish I knew how to read sign language. It would help so much to help the deaf, mute and anyone else who would need that type of support..."

"Okay, so what he has discovered is that Dr. Eggman is the one behind the events. No surprises there, but he spotted that the bombing does not fit the criteria of a normal bombing. In fact the bombing was done by a spell," Marth explained. The detective continued signing as Marth watched him. Tails started thinking about the files he got from an unknown source. But then remembered it was Chrom who provided that. "Continuing he is unsure of who the perpetrator is but he does know Shadow has no involvement."

Tails gasped, "So Shadow wasn't involved. Then who the heck could this be?!"

"An agent he says, or maybe Dr. Eggman himself with a robot or something... Or maybe it could be coming from a magician. More specifically a spellcaster since the sign is a bit limited..." Marth explained further. The detective stopped and shook their head. "That's about all they discovered."

Tails asked, "Oh wow! I mean that's impressive given everything that we were able to discover! What is your name?" The detective stayed quiet and slowly grabbed a sheet of paper. Then they wrote their name as simply put, S.S. "S.S... I'm assuming that's just an abbreviation of your name. But that's okay! Thanks for helping Detective S.S!" Detective S.S smiled down at him as Tails looked over.

Marth replied, "Thank you for helping the best you can, Tails. We will let you all know of anything new." Tails nodded as he dashed out of the detective facility. Tails looked around the entire town and most things were kept quiet and positive. Those who were part of the problem were being taken care of. But then he ran into Knuckles.

"Knuckles! What are you doing here?"

"Trying to help out with the situation! I know I'm usually guardin' the master emerald but I want to see what the whole situation going on here. Is Sonic really trying to solve this case?" Tails nodded as Knuckles looked around. "Sure as hell doesn't seem like it"

"Okay look Knuckles, Sonic is still trying to find the root of the problem and why Eggman is doing this!"

"That guy is the one behind this?" Tails nodded vigorously as Knuckles got more pissed off. "Oh when I get my HANDS on Eggman, he will know what he MESSED WITH!"

Tails laughed nervously, "Not too harsh! I know you're wanting to push but we must stay civilized about this." Knuckles stared at him and just took a long deep breath. "Still... I don't know how much worse this situation can get. Right now we're in the calm before the storm. Eggman hasn't attacked since the opening and Shadow won't provide much."

Knuckles asked, "What is Shadow, out of all people; WORKIN' WITH EGGMAN FOR?!" Tails shrugged his shoulders as he took another look at his gadget. Then he took a deep breath. "God, how stupid is Shadow really?"

"There has to be more to this than meets the eye. But it's fine, we have a detective trying to figure out the whole building bombing right now!" Tails laughed.

Knuckles asked, "Name?"

"They called him Detective S.S and that was it. I don't think he wishes to reveal his identity but he is mute," Tails explained.

Knuckles muttered, "A mute... detective? Is he deaf as well?"

"No, since he was able to understand me without sign language. He communicates with sign language... unless he uses a hearing aid and he is able to understand us that way. I didn't pay too close attention," Tails explained. Knuckles scratched his head as Tails just stared at him. "Sorry! I better get going to catch up on everyone!" Knuckles nodded as Tails continued running down the path. But then he saw two people fighting. Tails jumped backward and noticed it was the same people he saw a while back.

"TAKE THIS!" The guy with blue hair shouted. Tails continued watching them as the blonde continued shooting arrows around. The blue hair was a sword fighter while the blonde was more of a mix. Tails knew he had to help. He dashed in and started shooting ray guns. Turns out it was Shadow who was attacking them.

Tails announced, "Shadow! What do you want from us?!" The two looked at Tails as he held his ray gun at Shadow. Shadow stood there staring at him and scoffed. He dashed at Tails as Tails shot lasers from his ray gun. That allowed the blonde to strike an arrow behind Shadow. He fell forward and started rolling on the ground. Shadow looked over as Tails stood in front of them.

"You're all strong fighters... and Tails assisting you is helping you all more. But that doesn't matter..." Shadow grunted. He gripped his arm as the blue haired man walked forward. "You don't know what is going to happen. But regardless, I'll let things end here."

The blue haired man asked, "What do you mean by that? You need to repay for the things you've been doing to this town. You're responsible for this are you not?" Shadow stared at him and raised an eyebrow. That's when Tails quickly dashed in and stood in front of the man.

"Shadow isn't responsible! He's involved, yes; but that doesn't mean he's involved in the crimes being done! That's Dr. Eggman!" Tails yelled. Both of the guys stared at each other as Shadow stared at them. "Speak Shadow! Why are you working with Eggman and what is he planning!?" Tails pointed his gun at Shadow as Shadow stared at them.

The blonde man replied, "I would like to know what's going on here as well..." The blue-haired man nodded as Tails kept staring at Shadow, pointing his ray gun at him.

"You want answers...? Fine..." Shadow groaned.
