The incessant chatter of the different students filled the brisk air of platform 9 3/4. Two, short little boys shoved past me, chasing after each other. A stout, blonde woman ran past them, presumably their mother. A stupidly happy smile spread across my face upon this; I most likely would have had a delirious laughing fit had it not been for the cold presence behind me.The smile fell from my face as his hand grasped my shoulder, digging into my muscles.
"Listen to me very carefully, Nico. You need to make good connections while you're here. The Dark Lord still doesn't trust our loyalty, and you would do well to right that," His traditional snarl had turned into a rather gruff tone. For him, that was the equivalent of showering me with affection.
"Off you go." He released my shoulder, sending me off onto the train. Not that he needed to, I would have left as quickly as possible anyways.
Avoiding as many students as possible, I slid inside empty carriage, rubbing the hands of my grey sweater together, attempting to diffuse the nerves I had pent up inside me. A mahogany trunk stood next to me, with unmarked robes neatly packed inside. It was 5 minutes until the Hogwarts express departed. The platform was still bustling with noise and chatter, making me grateful that I had managed to get on the train early.
I heard a gentle rap at the carriage door, as it slid open, revealing a dark-skinned girl with beautiful, wash-n-go style hair. She was clad in a white dress shirt and a black ribbon tied as a loose bowtie as well as black fishnets under a green plaid pencil skirt. In short, she looked like she had guys and girls lining up around the block.
"May I sit here? I don't think I can listen to Pansy for another second without going mad" She rolled her eyes playful. I nodded quickly response, and quickly got up to help her with her trunk, stowing it overhead.
"I'm Jasmin, Jasmin Boyd" She reached her hand out and I shook it lightly. I didn't recognize the surname, which I was pretty content with. "You?"
"Nicolo Avery, you can call me Nico." I smiled nervously, already liking this girl and her friendliness. She smiled back, revealing soft cheek dimples. Witch Weekly could never.
"Nico, lovely to meet you." She said brightly. Then, out of nowhere, the train lurched, and began to move. The two of us nearly fell over, but quickly regained balance. Jasmin hastily opened the window and poked her head out waving goodbye to her family.
When she turned back around, her hair was rustled by the wind, and her face sported a wide grin. "So, you just gonna keep staring at my ass or-?" My ears quickly turned a shade of pink "Tha-thats not what I meant-" I began to stutter, but the other girl just giggled in response.
"Relax, I'm just playing, besides-" She then slid the slider door open, and peeked her head to to check if anybody was around. "It's better you than Blaise, I mean yeah I know I'm great but does he need to stalk me?" She playfully flipped her hair, while I stared at her apprehensively, blinking in confusion.
"You alright Avery? You looked like someone pissed on your cat-" She said, causing my to snort loudly with laughter, then promptly turn red from embarrassment. She smiled and shook her head at me, laughing at my misery.
"Uhm-" I laughed awkwardly, "I just have no idea who or, what you're talking about I just transferred this year." I explained, pushing my hair back.
"So the rumors, are true." She gasped. "Oh don't give me that look Avery, I know every single piece of gossip that flies around this school. It was rumored that some rich private school hottie was transferring in our year, pleased to know its you."
