"Now are you going to shake my hand or keep glaring at it dumbly?"

I stood up from the armchair, studying the blond. His cocky smirk hadn't dropped once in the entire conversation. It didn't help that he was a good 10 centimeters taller.

"I know you, Malfoy. You visit with your father every few months or so. You take my favorite chair in the manor library, crease the spines and doggy-ear the pages, then as soon as our parents are done Death-Eatering, you leave." I said blanky, looking up at him through my eyelashes. "Your family holds stupid Christmas parties ever season, and spends all night talking trying to subtly brag about their own wealth." Draco raised an eyebrow, seemingly amused.

"Let me ask you, why would any of that be an attractive alliance to me?" I questioned.

"You're seriously asking why I'm useful to you?" He scoffed. "You know the Minister? My father owns him. You know the new Defense teacher? The minister owns her. Sooner or later, she will own this bloody school. Does that make any sense to you, or shall I dumb it down further?" He mocked condescendingly, bending down to meet me eye level. "I run this entire fucking castle, and you do not want me as your enemy, Avery."

He then straightened himself up, brushed his hair into place and put on a clearly plastic smirk. "I like you, so I'll ask nicely once more. Yes or no."

"N-" I started. The look in his eyes was mildly unnerving. Nevertheless, it made me pause and think about it. Wasn't this the type of connection he would want. While Father wasn't here, disobeying him never lead to any good done. Rather, it only furthered the damage done. Besides, if Harry had misjudged me, I might possibly be misjudging blondie here.

"Fine." I observed his sudden change in expression, biting back a laugh at his relief. "What? I said okay to this alliance or whatever. Let me make myself clear, we are not friends of any sort." He simply chuckled, and patted my head condescendingly.

I grabbed his hand, yanking it off me, keeping an iron grip on his wrist.

"I'll make myself clear once, Malfoy. You may think you are all mighty, but cross me and you'll regret it." I spat, glaring as I did so.

"Don't you dare take that tone with me." He challenged back, returning my glare.

"I'll do what I please, dear ally." I sneered, grabbing my wand quickly and jabbing the tip to his chin, pressing into the flesh. Draco grinned wildly, letting out a deep chuckle.

"Does Boyd know about this side of you? This darker side?" He cocked his head to the side as he stared at my wand, a shit-eating grin on his face.

I glared at him, but dropped my wand, letting go of his wrist. "I won't bother you, so long as you don't bother me, Malfoy." I huffed, walking up the stairs to the dormitories.

"And where do you think you're going?" He asked. Even with my back turned, I could hear his stupid smile.

"Bed. Away from you."

"Avery, thats the girls dormitories." I froze, turning around slowly.

"You'll be rooming with me." Draco grinned.

The dungeon was the coldest place in the castle, no doubt. The boys dormitory seemed to turn into a meat locker during the night. Somehow I managed to avoid Malfoy, by piling 3 separate blankets over my head, and waking up to shower earlier than the entire Slytherin House, but as a consequence, I was shivering my balls off the entire morning.
