"ughhh." I groaned weakly, stumbling down to long dining table. "Jasmin can you vanish me pleeeease?" I mumbled tiredly. I only had Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures so far, but my head was already pounding with exhaustion. I hate school.

Jasmin still looked as bright and cheery as ever, of course. "Awwww little Nico all sleepy. Thats adorable. Welcome to Hogwarts." She slid me a plate of sandwiches, which I accepted gratefully, not even having the energy to work up a reaction to her teasing.

"Oh that reminds me!" She said in response to nothing in particular. "Quidditch tryouts are coming up this afternoon. Miles Bletchely was actually supposed to be captain but daddy Lucius made Draco captian." She whispered to me.

"Well isn't that bloody typical of him." I rolled my eyes. Jasmin look at me confused.

"Since when did you get to know Draco so well?" She questioned, slightly on edge.

"I don't know him honestly." I lied, after swallowing down a few more bites of sandwich. "I know his father a bit though, total prat. He's a family friend." I added hastily seeing Jasmin's worried expression. "Figured they're essentially alike, especially after Potions."

"Apple doesn't fall far from the tree i guess." she sighed. "Anyways!" She perked up instantly. "You interested in trying out for the official Slytherin House Quidditch team?" What a weirdo isn't she.

"Tempting, but no. I hate falling with a passion." I shuddered.

"Ahh the Slytherin Quidditch team is missing out on a spectacular athlete then." I gave her one of my worst side eyes, but she found it funny anyways. Stupid cheerful people

"Fine then, you wanna watch with me? Vince and Greg are trying out, they'll probably either fail spectacularly or be incredibly talented, both of which would be equally hilarious."

"Meh. sounds entertaining but I'll pass. Loads of homework." I sighed into my sandwich. "But you have to tell me what happens when you come back, alright?"

"You bet." She winked. 'Have fun with your assignments Avery." She pulled up her bag, and walked off to her next class, pulling more than a few stares from the various boys she passed by.

God. I'm friends with an actual diva. And she's really cool. What has my life become.

After about 2 hours of library time, I had finished most of my homework for all my classes that day, all that remained was practicing a Vanishing Spell for Transfiguration. Even after multiple attempts, all my paperweight would do is shoot about 20 meters in the air, nearly touching the cavernous ceiling of the huge library, then come crashing back down. After the first 3 times, I figured out how to slow it down when it fell at least. Some progress had been made.

The tricky part was making sure it didn't hit anything as it feel. Levitation is a bit harder when the target is already midair.

Most of the time, it always landed safely on the desk I had claimed for myself, but other times, I was less lucky. It was a miracle Madam Pince didn't kick me out already.

The grandfather clock in the corner lazily ticked away, making a loud gong every hour or so. By the third gong, I had officially given up Mcgonagall's assignment, and decided to just pack up my things and leave.

Stupid father. Why cant I learn useful things like this during homeschooling. No no, its far more important to learn the etymology of ancient runes and the entire lineage of the pureblood families.

It's easy to blame him when things suck. He's an easily hate-able person. Most of the time, it's his fault anyways.

I brushed through the different shelves, hoping I remembered the way towards the exit. One left, two rights, left again...
