"You can see them too?"

"Harry!" A bushy haired female appeared beside him seemingly chiding the other, along with a redheaded boy, both of them wearing Gryffindor robes. From the papers, I could easily guess the girl was Hermione Granger, and of course the scar headed boy was legend. It took a bit longer for me to attach a name to the redhead's face, but eventually I remembered him, Ronald Weasley, from the papers from 3 years ago. Something about a flying car?

"What? It's just a question!" Harry protested, the annoyance clear on his face.

I turned my eyes away from the trio, and looked back at the creature. It looked like a magnificent horse, yet more reptilian, with inky black skin of the most beautiful shade, prettier than the night sky. The dragon-like head, topped with white fangs, was expressionless, with white, glimmering eyes void of any emotion, the lack of pupils both eerie and amazing. The real feature was its wings. Bat-like and leathery, I could only imagine how they would look spread out.

"Yeah, I see them- what are they?" I smiled, reaching out to stroke the creatures snout. Jasmin had on an excellent poker face, observing this like it was a theatrical drama. Harry simply shrugged in response. "Dunno- I've never seen them before."

"The bloody hell are you two on about?" Weasley asked hotly. He seemed agressive, but upon further thought it was probably just concern for his friend.

"You're not going mad."

A soft, dreamy voice came from the carriage. "I can see them too." I looked up to see the blonde girl sitting in the carriage. Her words seemed to silkily drift out of her mouth, as if her voice was in one place and her mind elsewhere.

"You're just as sane as I am." She hummed and then proceeded to read her magazine, upside-down, seemingly unbothered by the whole conversation.

"Brilliant." said Jasmin, her poker face melting for the first time in this whole conversation. I made a mental note to never trust Jasmin in awkward situations, it turns out she just enjoyed them.

I let out a careful sigh, and clambered onto the carriage, seating myself between the blonde and Jasmin, while the trio sat across. The thestral began to pull the carriage, and the 6 of us rumbled along the dirt road to the castle, a thick awkward tension hanging over our heads.

Harry's pov:

"Everybody this is Loony-" Hermione's voice cut sharply into the autumn air "-this is Luna Lovegood. Ravenclaw." Despite the name Hermione just called her, Luna seemed fairly unbothered. A skill I should probably learn, considering the madness in the Daily Prophet.

"Jasmin Boyd, Slytherin." My shoulders tensed up slightly at hearing the house name. "And- I don't think I know you." Hermione continued the introductions, a puzzled expression appearing on her face when her eyes met the boy sitting between Luna and the Slytherin.

"Nicolo Avery. Homeschooled." He answered with a wave. I inhaled sharply, his surname was all too familiar.

This guy's father, uncle, whatever; was a Death Eater, and one of the many hooded figures that appeared in the graveyard where Cedric died.

I saw the boy glance at me for a moment, then quickly glance away, eyes widened and hands nervously wringing themselves together. He was up to something.

"You're related to a Death Eater. Aren't you?" Hermione sharply inhaled as the blunt words tumbled out, though I didn't regret a thing. It was the truth, something that a lot of people didn't like apparently. Ron shifted uncomfortably, I didn't particularly care though
