"Who do you think you are you little rat."
"Hi I'm Nicolo Av-" I answered, very confused, and very cold, considered the only thing protecting me from the frigid temperatures of the dungeons was a t-shirt and boxers.
"Look- you're new." He interrupted. "So I'll let you off this once. But you better keep your little hands off Tseng."
"What-?" I asked, pulling on a jacket. "I was just teaching her a spell."
"Don't play dumb Avery." Zabini scoffed. "The entire common room saw you had her hands all over her."
"Oh would you leave it Blaise, she broke up with you a month ago." Nott interjected. Both of us turned towards him.
"Watch it Nott. I'll get her back." Blaise said irritatedly.
"Look mate, I'm not interested in her if that's what you're so pissed about." I rubbed my eyes. "But I was under the impression you were into Jasmin?"
"Oh is that what she told you?" Zabini mocked, and yet somehow I noticed a glint of panic in his eyes. "No. We were over ages ago, she's just a bitch about it." I raised an eyebrow, but a quick glance at Nott told me to let it slide, so I ignored this comment. Over the past week I've grown to understand that Slytherins only mean about half of what they say, and the rest is a projection of strength. Blaise seemed to be no exception.
"Fine then, good luck with Amy." I yawned, burying myself under the covers before Zabini could reply. I heard him scoff in indignation, but evantually he walked away, leaving my finally alone to sleep.

The next morning, I woke up earlier than the entire dorm again. This time it was to above both Draco and Blaise, seeing as how neither of them seemed to like me at the moment. Classes were gradually becoming more manageable, as I gradually fell into a routine. The workload still felt like ass, and Umbridge was still a bitch, but now I was conditioned to accept it. I love school. Our dear lady Dolores happened to be the topic of discussion over lunch.
"She's such a right prat. Thank god she favors Slytherins, but did you see what she did to Padma Patil?"
"What happened?" I quirked up an eyebrow.
"She just vanished her earrings. Y'know, the big colorful ones that have animated butterflies flying around them. They were her mum's, and poof." She scoffed. "Classroom distraction my ass."
"She was probably pissed that they were pretty than the pearl situation she's got on." said a voice. The two of us looked up to see Amy Tseng, already sliding into the seat across from us. "Don't worry, I'll be gone soon, just here to bother Pansy."
Jasmin cracked a smile. "For that noble cause, stay as long as you'd like."
"What happened between you and Pansy?" I questioned.
"Oh nothing. She thinks that you're hitting on me and didn't believe me when I told her you weren't." She said, carefully watching me for my reaction. When I gave her none, she continued. "Evantually she pressed too much, so I thought this would drive her nuts."
"And that solves things how-?" I asked, visibly confused.
"Oh Nico-" Jasmin said, poking my cheek. "It solves absolutely nothing, That's why its so brilliant."
