Red Keep

It was the soft padding of feet that woke Rhaenyra from her slumber. After the raven she had received from ser Harwin she had spent the day on edge and sleep had come fast for her when she retired to bed.

Feeling the bed sheets moving she peeked and saw Shiera laying down by her side. Her eyes closed and moving towards her seeking the comfort of her mother's arms. Once more her daughter had been right about the future and she didn't know what to do now. If she told her father it would surely also spread to the whole seven kingdoms. And who knows what would happen then. Right now being in King's Landing was dangerous. The walls had ears, no conversation was safe and that in itself meant that the safety of her children and brothers was not assured. She had already lost a mother and partially a father now that he was falling ill, so she had to make sure the rest of her family was safe.

She had been thinking for a while of going to Dragonstone, so that the children could learn and grow where their family started so long ago. She would have to talk to her father first and convince him to let them go away for a while, something she thought would not be complicated.

Putting all those thoughts aside, she decided to focus on Shiera.

"What troubles your pretty little head sweet girl?" Even though she hadn't moved in the last couple of minutes, she knew she was awake. After all, she had given birth to her and she knew her like the back of her hand. She still remembered that night, the screams and the pain she felt. She swore she would wait some years before having another after her birth, scared of repeating her mother's fate and dying during childbirth.

"Jace knows about Harwin. He didn't seem bothered by it, but by his absence" Shiera confessed as she felt her mother stop caressing her hair.

"I will talk with him tomorrow. But I don't think that's what is bothering you" Rhaenyra knew her daughter and although she cared a lot about her brothers, she wouldn't risk waking her up for it. There was something else that worried her.

"Will I ever meet my father?" At that Rhaenyra tensed and separated a little to be able to see Shiera's face. She hadn't talked to her about her father because she didn't know how. That night with him was what made her father decide to finally marry her off to Laenor and had never talked about it with anyone, even ser Harwin.

"I don't know sweet girl. Maybe one day." She really believed that. She knew Daemon and he couldn't stay away from court for long. He thrived on the chaos he caused. And what better public than the people of King's Landing.

"Do you think he will like me?" Shiera wasn't insecure about her lack of sight but she also knew that often fathers preferred their offspring healthy and without impurities.

"Of course he will love you. After all, you are his daughter. And I think I know where you're going so don't think for a moment that your eyes will make him love you less" Rhaenyra wanted to make sure that Shieraknew she was loved by her father even if she hadn't met him. One day they would meet and she really hoped they would become closer.

"I really hope so muña" Shiera said as she closed her eyes and snuggled closer to her mother. She knew her mother loved her father so she wished for them to be reunited soon for her mother deserved to be happy as well.

"Good night ñuha zaldrītsos" Rhaenyra whispered as she kissed Shiera's head.

With that both mother and daughter let sleep take over them.

After receiving Mysaria's raven Daemon couldn't help but think about his daughter. When he left he didn't know Rhaenyra was pregnant. And, once he found out, it was too late to go back for her. She had already been married to Laenor and he had lost her again. So he married Laena and parted towards Essos without a thought.
He had made Mysaria promise him that she would send him ravens with updates about his daughter. Although she was not present in his life she was a part of him. Of him and Rhaenyra. The news of his daughter's impairment didn't mean anything to him. He would love her the same, he would protect her with his life, he would kill for her. There won't be anything in the seven kingdoms strong enough to stop him from protecting those who he loved. And that included the Hightower cunts that seemed to surround his brother. If Otto wasn't careful he would feed him to Caraxes. Consequences be damned.
He loved his wife, daughters and future baby but Rhaenyra was his soulmate, his other half and being separated from her was painful.

Daemon knew he would reunite with them one day, he was sure. And he had a hunch that it would be earlier than everybody though.
