King's Landing

The next few days Daemon and Rhaenyra treated carefully. Daemon had sent some of his most trusted men in search of information about Old-Town and their maesters. Now that they were aware of the Hightowers' plans of eliminating the family by ruining their health, they had started searching for different people with enough knowledge to take care of their health.

"Is there news from Qoren?" Asked Rhaenyra from the comfort of her bed.

"No my love, but I assume it won't be long before we hear something from that snake." Daemon said with a slight scowl from his place at her side. To say he didn't like the prince of Dorn would be an understatement.

After Qoren sided with the Triarchy and betrayed the pact between the Targaryens and Martells, tensions were higher than ever. Furthermore, the fact that Qoren had once been considered a possible match for Rhaenyra did not help his hatred for him diminish.

Resting her head on Daemond's shoulder she listened to his breathing trying to relax before the upcoming months.

With a new baby on the way, her father getting increasingly sicker, the children who day by day were becoming more and more unruly, the common folk who suffered the harshness of summer and the Hightowers with their thirst for power Rhaenyra and Daemon were lacking moments of tranquility and rest.

They had achieved, or so they thought, the great feat of tiring out all the kids after a morning of flying through the skies on the back of their dragons.

At the other end of the hall, the little royals scurried through the corridors that connected most of the rooms of the palace in search of adventure outside the safety of the keep.

The children, led by Aegon and Haelena, cruised the secret passages as easily as the ones the rest of the court used. They tried to make as little noise as they could but the giggles of the little ones couldn't help but be heard by some lingering servants who, due to the eerie darkness and multiple rumors, couldn't help but be scared when they assumed that they were listening to the ghosts that inhabited the halls of the Red Keep.

Nearing the end of the passage Aemond stopped to make sure nobody had been left behind. Making sure Shiera was securely at his side he started to count his nephews and siblings. He thought it wouldn't be too difficult to count them all as Lucerys and Joffrey had stayed home, meaning that there were fewer heads to count.

"I think everyone is here... wait, where is Aegon?" He hadn't realized when his brother had disappeared from Haelena's side.

He didn't have to wait long since the moment the question left his mouth Aegon revealed himself.

"On your blind spot perhaps" Aegon said blandly as he stepped forward and made his way again towards Haelena's side. In his hands there was a tiny bug that he gave to his sister, making her smile grow considerably.

Summoning all his willpower, Aemond let the comment pass for the sake of this rare moment of freedom from the court and their tight reins on their lives.

"We should stay together as much as we can. It could be dangerous to walk alone through the streets" Shiera said as she took hold of Aemonds hand. With how hot it was their palms were already starting to get sweaty but it didn't stop them.

"It's a good idea! I want to go with Jace". Daeron said as he took Jace by the arm and started to pull him towards the street.

"All right, then I will go with Haelena and you, Aemond will go with Shiera" Aegon said as he tried to take the lead of their little group and failed miserably when everyone began to disperse when he hadn't even finished speaking. "Right, don't listen to me, it's not like I'm the oldest and therefore the one in charge of you."

When he realized that they were really leaving without a second thought he scrambled a little after them trying to make sure they knew what to do later.

"At least remember to come back here in two hours! I don't want to be late and get caught! I wanted to go flying tomorrow with Sunfire!" Giving up, he took Haelena and began their own excursion through the night market.

Unbeknownst to them, they had been followed from the start by some of Daemon's most trusted spies. He knew how kids were, and more importantly, he knew how Targaryens were so he was more than prepared for these types of wild scapades.

After his own scapade with Rhaenyra, which he would never be ashamed or regretful of, he had bowed to the gods that he would never let the same happen to his daughter.

She was just a baby in his eyes and he couldn't bear the thought of letting his precious child be at the mercy of any man.

The children ran through the stalls, their white haired heads covered by the hoods of their capes.

With one hand grabbing the hem of her dress and the other holding Aemond's, Shiera made her way through the crowd. It was noisy and totally different to what she was used to. The delicious smell of food and spices crashed with the odor of the people and the filth of the street.

As they made their way along the alleyways they ended at a play. It seemed to be popular as the amount of people swirling around it became bigger and bigger as time passed. It also seemed to be a play about the royal family with elaborate costumes and numerous actors.

Without Shiera having to ask him, Aemond started to describe what was going on around them.

"There seems to be a play about us ñuha zaldrītsos (my little love)." He whispered making sure the people standing close to them didn't hear. The last thing he wanted was people knowing they were there and them hurting Shiera.

"Oh... Then we must stay focused. We need to know what they think of us." With that she settled into Aemond's side and tried to listen as attentively as she could with all the noise around them.

When the first actor appeared on stage everyone fell silent and listened to his words.

"Tonight, my friends, I'm going to tell you the story of one of our loved royals."
