Chapter 7: A New Home
Years later, Alan successfully completed his medical studies and obtained his doctor's license. Although he occasionally missed his previous career as a police officer, he found great fulfillment in his role as a doctor. Interestingly, Alan, Andrew, and Jane all found themselves working at the same hospital. Meanwhile, Martin pursued a career as a detective in the San Francisco police force, where he formed strong bonds with his fellow officers. Additionally, both Alan and Martin's parents owned a popular coffee shop known for its exceptional coffee, attracting a large customer base. During this time, Alan developed close friendships with Dr. Griffin and David Madison. As Alan watched the news, he learned about the disappearance of a man named Ken Anderson and his family, hoping that the police would locate them soon.
Later, after finishing work, Alan went to the bank. Alan got behind a man who looked nervous. Alan begins to have a vision of that man holding Ken Anderson and his family hostage in his home. Alan followed the man to his house. Alan knew that he could not call the police without proof that the man had kidnapped Ken Anderson and his family. Alan calls Martin.
"Martin, can you check an address for me?" Alan asks.
"Yes, sure what is the address?" Martin asks.
Alan gave Martin the address of the man.
"What's up? Why did you want me to check out an address?" Martin asked as he sat down at the restaurant with Alan.
"Do you know who lived there?" Alan responded.
"Yeah, the person who lived there was Sam Johnson. I also found out that Sam used to work for Ken at a computer company, but Ken fired him for missing too many days. Sam has a motive to kidnap Ken and his family. Why are you asking about Sam?" Martin inquired.
"I had a vision that Sam had kidnapped Ken Anderson and his family," Alan replied.
"Are you saying you're psychic?" Martin questioned.
"I do not know, but I do know I am not hallucinating!" Alan replied angrily. "I believe you," Martin replied.
"Does Sam have any family or friends?" Alan asks.
They decided to investigate and went to Sam's parents' house. A man answered the door. "Hello, I am Detective Martin Stewart. Are you Sam's father?" Martin asked. "Yes, I am. My name is Ray Johnson. What is going on? Did something happen to Sam?" Ray asks. Martin explained that Sam's former boss and his family are missing, and they know Sam was fired for missing too many days and is a suspect in Ken and his family's disappearance. It was a shocking revelation, and the investigation continued to uncover more clues.
"I did not know that Sam got fired," Ray protested. "I know he has been moody, but I did not know why. I do not think Sam would hurt anyone."
Martin assured Ray that they were just trying to rule him out as a suspect. Suddenly, a woman from behind them asked, "What is going on Ray?"
Ray turned around to see who it was and said, "This is Detective Martin Stewart. I am sorry I did not get your name."
Alan then introduced himself as Detective Martin's brother.
"Detective Stewart and Alan are here to ask questions about Sam's boss," Ray explained to the woman.
"I am Ray's wife and Sam's mother Beth," Beth introduces herself.
"It is very nice to meet you," Alan replied.
Alan has another vision that Beth had cancer. Alan understands why Sam was missing so many days from work. He was helping his dad take care of his mother.
"We are sorry to bother you. If you see Sam please tell him we need to talk to him," Alan replied leaving the house.
"What are you doing? I still have more questions for them," Martin questions.
"Beth has cancer. That is why Alan was missing so many days of work to help his dad take care of his mother. Also, Sam was helping his dad with the bills. That is why he kidnapped Ken Anderson and his family, so he can force Ken to give his job back," Alan replied.
Later, Alan and Martin went to Sam's house. They knocked on the door. Sam answers the door.
"You are the guy from the bank," Sam replied.
"Yes, I am. I know you kidnapped Ken Anderson and his family. I also know why you were missing so many days of work. Your mother Beth has cancer and you have been helping your parents with the bills. You have also been helping your dad take care of your mother. I can help your mother. I am a doctor. Please let Ken and his family go. I will make sure your mother will get the best treatment for her cancer," Alan pleaded.
Sam let Ken and his family go.
Sam was admitted to the psychiatric hospital. Beth fully recovered. The San Francisco police recruited Alan, Andrew, and Jane as consultants. Alan was pleased to collaborate with the police once more. Although Alan had feelings for Amelia, he didn't want to jeopardize his friendship with Victor. Victor and David were already assisting the police. Alan's photograph appeared in the newspaper, which he disliked as he preferred to avoid publicity.
