Lost and alone they roam,
Across borders, they make their way,
Forced to flee their homes,
With nothing left to stay.
Refugees seeking safety and peace,
From war-torn and strife-filled lands,
Their hearts are heavy with grief,
Their fate resting in other's hands.
They leave behind all they know,
Their lives are in disarray,
Their future is uncertain and slow,
Each step is a struggle and a fray.
Yet still, they push on,
Their hope and determination are alive,
A thousand battles may be fought,
But their spirit refuses to die.
And so they come to us,
A plea for help and aid,
A call to open our hearts and eyes,
And lend them our hands and shade.
For refugees are human too,
Their story is not unlike our own,
Their need for sanctuary is true,
And their right to live is well known.
