Sorrow, a haunting presence
That lingers and weighs heavy
A thorn in the heart, a stain on the soul
It takes over and paints the world blue.
It creeps up with a fiendish glee
And swallows us whole, bit by bit
It drags us down to a bottomless pit
And leaves us alone with our misery.
The weight of it all, oh so heavy
The burden of carrying on despite
The deep ache it brings, the tears it weaves
A constant reminder that all is not right.
It turns laughter into a hollow echo
And robs us of our joys and peace
We feel lost in a sea of darkness
With no sign of respite or release.
Yet, despite the grim depths of sadness
We know it is a part of life's tapestry
For every storm shall eventually pass
And hope shall dawn as a new reality.
