It's always the thing he is drunk and gambled away our life savings he even used my college fund to support his habit everything changed when mother left at first it was just insults but over time it escalated I was only 14 at the time when it began I sometimes wish mother had taken me with her and not left me in the hands of this treacherous human called my father

Father: a man relating to his child or children.

That was not the case for Athena the man who was meant to protect her failed to do so and at the tender age of fourteen she became subjected to his drunken abusive behaviour at times he would beat her for not shifting.

One fine day ( sarcastically)

I open my door very quietly and tip toe down the hallway desperately not trying to make a sound I control my breathing so he can't hear me as I make my way to the kitchen I take a moment to assess my injuries dad decided another ten lashings and a good beat down should do well to teach me good in his terms I need to learn to shut my mouth I begin to prepare breakfast when I hear footsteps " haven't you started already" my father yells " getting ready now" I say calmly " fuckung useless twat" yup his favourite insult " sorry father" next thing I meet a frying pan to my face yeah that's gonna hurt " useless just like your mother" he continued to insult me I've heard it all before after finishing making his breakfast he stumbles to get dressed wearing slacks and his wife beater oh how charming I took this opportunity to get myself ready for school I packed on as much concealer and eye correction as I could praying to the moon goddess that no one would notice not that they did im practically invisible there if I went missing they wouldn't care I'd just become another statistic I wait for my father to leave and rush to the kitchen and go to my emergency stash I've hidden it quite well I take what I need and dash for it.

While as school I get stares and people gossip I let them after my classes finish I head to the grass area where it's hidden nobody can find me I hear the river flowing beautifully its like music to my ears I close my eyes for a moment and take in my surroundings the sun on my face feels amazing this is what freedom must feel like I take a deep breath and sigh knowing that I have to come back to reality but five more minutes can't hurt I look up to the sky and speak

" dear moon goddess take away this pain and suffering I've endured and grant me the freedom to live my life happy and healthy please let me find my mate who will love and treat me with kindness " I open my eyes and see a pack of very large dogs as I stand up I see lycans oh shit what are they doing here they are everywhere just then I walk over to where the other students are " what's going on?" I ask one of the girls called alina " it's the lycan king rumor has it that alpha Linus broke the treaty " she whispers og goodie punishment again I say in my sarcastic voice " will he ever learn" I hear one of the teachers say four lycans and man they look like rockstars dressed in suits and glasses that would

" attention ever clear pack student I'm beta cyrus" he yells " please make way for your king logan blacklake" says beta what's his name " pups it has been brought to my attention that once again your leader and alpha has broken the rules once more therefore I am here to issue him a fine or punishment maybe I should be ruthless and take away the women and pups " the king says everyone gasps that's when alpha Linus and luna Daphne show up late as per usual " king logan to what do we owe this visit" the king just stares at the alpha " it's seems you can't behave linus" the king says aloud " I assure you your highness we have been" logan smirks " do you treat your king like a fool ?" He challenged him " no my king " king logan leans in " you broke the treaty" Linus loses the colour in his face " I see" he says glaring at his wife " you will pay the fine of two hundred thousand dollars and I'll be taking the pups and women since you can't handle that" the king says to him Linus nods " as you wish" he sneers.
