Days turned into weeks. Time was passing by and along with that the bonds among the family were getting stronger.
One day in the evening, Madhav and Princess Arpita were trying to enter the palace quietly hiding from everyone. They were about to climb the stairs when a voice called them.
"Where do you think you two are going ?" Prince Aryan asked them folding his hands in front.
They slowly turned towards him. Princess Arpita's hands were shivering with anxiety and her eyes were on the ground. Madhav saw this and came forward.
"It is nothing, your highness. We just returned from fair. I was escorting Princess Arpita back just like you asked me to." Madhav spoke with hands behind his back and looking down.
"You do know Madhav that we have been friends for over two decades now. Do you really think I cannot differentiate your lie?" Prince Aryan asked
"And you Arpi. How many times have I told you not to go alone? Do you really even understand the instructions that I gave you about going out of palace?" Prince Aryan went to Princess Arpita and asked her in a raised voice.
King, Queen, Taradevi and Sunitadevi, all came to the main royal hall where they were standing.
Princess was still shaking with fear. Madhav saw this and tried to diffuse the situation, "Your highness, she just..."
Aryan raised his hand at him indicating him to stop, "I am talking with my sister at this moment. I am asking you something Arpi. Why did you go without informing me?"
Princess Arpita's eyes were now welled up with tears. Madhav spoke again, "Your highness, we can talk about this later."
Prince ignored this and asked her again, "Where did you go?Did it not ever occur to you that you could have informed me? Was your fun for sometime and your carelessness more important than your life?"
"Aryan beta. Calm down. She is a grown up woman. She can go outside and take her own decisions." Queen came and spoke to him in same voice as his.
"Yes Aryan. Your mother is correct. Arpi can take her own decisions. She does not require our permission all the time."
"Are you all even getting the point I am talking about? And maa, papa, you really think I am someone with orthodox thoughts who would not allow his sister to go out? You both know better than anyone how I have never restricted her for anything. She can do everything she wants but it is not safe at this moment out there. But if you think like that about me, then I apologise for being a disappointing son."
"Aru you know that is not what your parents meant." Taradevi spoke to his grandson calmly.
All were terrified looking at his anger because Prince Aryan never lost his temper unless it was really serious matter.
King went to Madhav and asked, "What is the matter, Madhav?"
Madhav glanced at Princess Arpita and spoke "Your majesty, Princess Arpita had went to fair today which was held in the village nearby that villagers had organised in the event of rain festival. "
"What is the issue Aryan? It was just a fair. It is not like she has not gone before." King told his son.
"The problem is not her visiting the fair papa. The problem is her going alone without any royal guards."
"What? But why would you do that Arpi? Haven't I mentioned before about always go wherever you want to but with guards?" Queen asked Princess.
"No she does not understand that. That is why she acted so foolishly on her own."
