"Let it go, my queen. They had a long journey yesterday. It is too late at this moment and..."
She gave a glaring look at him and that immediately made him go silent.
King; he might be of the kingdom but at that moment he was just a scared husband who did not want his wife to be angrier than she already was.
He was not completely wrong though. It was late and they might have been exhausted from the journey. But the main reason he was trying to persuade her to leave the matter at the moment was because he wanted to give his son some time to figure out on how to pacify his mother.
The whole family was still standing in the royal hall with Imlie and Prince Aryan at the entrance of the hall. There was a pin drop silence. No one was saying a word except the king's occasional failing attempts and Princess Arpita's giggling sound. Aryan rolled his eyes at his little sister; seemed like she was enjoying this too much.
"My dear..."
"No, your majesty. I do not want to hear a single word from you anymore." She turned towards him, "As a matter of fact, you are responsible for this situation today."
"What? How am I..?"
Queen interrupted him in between, " Yes, your majesty. All because of you. You have been way too lenient with them. Whenever I am strict with them, you always save them. Now please tell me, what excuse you have for your son's behaviour?"
Why am I the one facing the wrath in place of Aryan?
"My son? As far as I remember, both of us were responsible for his birth."
"Seriously? Out of everything I spoke, you choose to focus on such trivial matter?"
"How is it trivial? It is about our son. And to be honest, is it me or you, who always keeps on praising, 'My son is this and My son is that'..." King imitated the last part in Queen's manner.
"How could you?" Her face was absolutely red now and all credit went to her husband who in effort of pacifying her instead made her even more angrier.
This kept on going on for a while.
Imlie was shocked seeing them like this; her head juggling between queen and king. She never imagined that a royal family behaves like that. From all she had heard, she thought royals only act in a sophisticated manner all the time. Her chain of thoughts interrupted with Princess Arpita's silent giggles and Prince Aryan's very hard attempt to suppress the laughter. She was surprised at the sibling's reaction.
Prince Aryan saw her shocked look.
He went near her and whispered," You will get used to it."
She ignored him and moved near Princess to ask her, "Are you not going to stop it?"
"Naahh! This is one of the source of our entertainment in the palace. It is the usual matter which happens every other day. Maa gets angry and then papa goes behind her to pacify her." She winked at her.
"Besides I have no interest in making my mother mad than she already is."she made a scared face.
Imlie smiled at her.
Princess saw his brother smiling while looking at her, "By the way, I think my brother has stole the quota of my mother's scoldings for a while " she smirked at both of them.
His smile immediately vanished.
"Arpi, my baby sister. How about you help me out this time?"
"No chance bhai. Besides it is not everyday you get to see your brother all riled up." She spoke while pretending to blow her nails.
