Rosie's POV
It's quite peaceful when you're in the countryside. My mom's husband owns a small winery farm so I can easily assume their well-off on their own. I never went to their wedding so I've always wonder how my mom's settling. All the hint I know was how she's happy after contacting me back when I reached college.
It was a rough patch since she wasn't really there when I needed her and only contacted me when she was about to get married to Andre, her current husband and wished for me to come to her wedding as one of the bridesmaids. Firstly I thought she's the fucking worse and quite insensitive for her ways of reuniting with me. I didn't go to her wedding and left her messaging me the whole day.
She was clinging and doing grand gestures that I really didn't need as a young adult until my grandparents talked me out about it and eventually, I gave in.
But it was all in the past. I would rather go see my mum than my dad anyway. This option was much better than having no parents at all.
"Roseanne, darling. Do you want to have a tour around for awhile? We've been to the winery barn the other day, I figured you might not know about the amazing neighborhood and shops down this area." Mom smiled, showing her aging wrinkles under her eyes as she does so. She's still as beautiful as ever. Those forest green eyes must be the sole reason why Andre fell for her. It was always captivating at first glance.
"Uh.. sure. Why not?" I smiled back and put the stickers I just printed to sell inside the drawer to store them.
"What about Lily though?" I asked, referring to my step little sister who is now a walking toddler, stealing around people's heart.
"Don't worry, sweetheart. I have one of her nanny to take care of it." I sighed. "Alright. Just a sec and I'll be down."
I said before organizing the rest of my stuff and grabbing my hat and purse.
Throughout the whole ride, mom pointed different spots that are considered a tourist spot for certain seasons.
This place is indeed a breather. You could see more trees and beautifully preserved historical houses that people still live in as they seem like their living quite peacefully.
It was a good idea to go out and shop in this weather. The clothes they sell in the market didn't seem so bad, it was infact fitting for my style. Though the prices may be quite a little expensive so around only three sun dresses were bought.
As I was waiting for check out, I heard the faint and familiar acoustic song that was played on the speaker.
You'll always be a part of me
I'm part of you indefinitely
Girl, don't you know you can't escape me
Ooh darling, 'cause you'll always be my baby~
I tapped my shoes impatiently as the scowl in my face immediately settled in. Not this shop too?! This is the nth time I've heard this song this week.
I mean, I would be in my feels and vibe like how other people have been bopping their heads as they listen to the background music while they shop.
I just can't stand another voice that reminded me of her.
Mom was outside the shop ordering food from the stall so I can't ask her to fill in my place.
"Excuse me, who's the artist of this song?" I heard one girl just infront of me asked to the cashier lady, as she's pointing on the speaker.
