Dawn's POV

I'd slowly awoken from feeling the pain in my arms, where I had countless bruises. I groaned and rose up, into a sitting position, and then stretched out my sore arms. I looked at the Pokemon sleeping on my bed and smile, "Where would I be without you guys?"

I decided today was the day, I was going to attempt to escape, yet again.

I got up and walked into the kitchen to see a note laying on the bench.

"Dear Dawn." I began, reading in my head. "I have gone to work early today. I am really sorry about what I did last night." -I scoffed at his lies- "And hope to surprise you tonight as its our first anniversary." I tore up the note deciding not to even finish reading it.

"Anniversary my ass." I muttered, before tossing the paper in the trash bin.

When you're in love, aren't you supposed to be happy? Yes. Love is a truly beautiful thing. This is not love, it never has been. This thing between Paul and I, is toxic.

I made some coffee and decided to start packing up my suitcase. I headed back upstairs and open my big old suitcase, and folded up some clothes. "Today's going to be successful~" I sung aloud. My Pokemon began to wake up, and question what I'm doing.

"Today, my lovelies, we're attempting to leave yet again~" I chime, looking at a small table placed in the corner of the room, covered in photo frames.

I stop packing as I notice a photo of May and I. May was my very best friend. I take the photo frame and try to smile. I miss her so much. I hope she's found a new best friend and moved on, but at the same time I hope she still remembers me.

"Alright, I have to go soon." I tell myself, taking my bags downstairs. "Hm." I look over the counter to see a phone, sitting in the corner. It was the home phone, that Paul forbid me to use.

I raced to the phone, clenching it tightly in one hand, quickly dialling a phone number with my other hand.

I felt a pair of arms wrap forcefully around my waist. "If you think you're going to get ahold of someone, you're crazy. They've moved on." Paul hissed at me before shoving me across the room.

I lost my footing and tripped, I looked up as Paul slammed the phone back down and walked over to me. "Dumb bitch, you aren't getting any help. They've all forgotten about you!" He roared before punching me square in the face.

I picked it up, without hesitation, and dialled a number I had always remembered.. Other than my mothers of course.

"Hello?" I begin, hearing the phone on the other line being picked up. "Hello? Who is this?" The voice sounded puzzled. But I knew that voice anywhere, it was May. "May!" I boomed, my eyes welling up with tears. I hadn't heard her voice for a year now. "Uhm hello?" She repeated, still confused as I finally speak up.

"May, its Dawn!" There was a bang on May's end. "Hello!?" I panicked, now concerned. "Dawn!? S-sorry I had dropped the phone in shock." She giggled, but she sounded like she was choking back tears.

"D-dawn Berlitz!? Where on Earth have you been!?" She growled, almost shouting. "May, I-" I began but soon got cut off.

"The day you left I had a very heartbroken Ash at my doorstep!" She said. This was making me feel very guilty, but she wasn't letting me talk.
