On the way to San Francisco
Audelia's POV:
I groaned as I slowly opened my eyes, feeling a massive headache pulsing through my skull. The room was dimly lit, and the smell of stale alcohol lingered in the air. I sat up in bed, rubbing my eyes and taking in my surroundings. It was just me and Lars in the room, and he looked just as rough as I felt.
,,Morning," I mumbled, struggling to sit up straight on the edge of the bed. I ran a hand through my tangled hair, cringing at the feeling of disgust that washed over me from last night's excessive drinking. Lars greeted me with a tired smile, also rubbing his head. He always seemed to handle alcohol better than I did.
,,Here, take it," Lars said, tossing me a pack of aspirin. I caught it and quickly downed five pills, hoping they would ease the pounding in my head.
,,They packed our things already and went out for breakfast. I wanted to go too, but Kirk made me stay," Lars grumbled, sounding irritated.
,,Well, thank you for staying," I muttered sarcastically, rolling my eyes.
,,You're welcome," Lars replied with a smirk as he got up from the bed.
,,Where are you going?" I asked as he gathered our remaining belongings.
,,The guys said we should meet up with them once you were awake. So get dressed," he said with a smile, frantically searching for the keys.
,,Here," I said, throwing him the keys that were lying on the table before making my way to the bathroom to change into something more suitable for going out.
,,Thanks!" Lars yelled after me as I closed the bathroom door behind me.
I groaned as I took in my reflection in the mirror - dark circles under my eyes, tangled hair, and pale skin. This hangover was not doing me any favors. With another groan, I splashed cold water on my face in an attempt to wake myself up. It didn't really work, but I tried. I grabbed the brush from the counter and attempted to tame my wild hair.
Satisfied with the result, I put Lars's brush back and reached for my makeup bag. After applying some concealer, mascara, and smudging a bit of eyeliner, I was finally starting to look like a human being again.
,,Look who's finally done," Lars said, getting up and ready to leave. ,,Not like you're any faster," I quipped, rolling my eyes as we walked out the door - Lars locking it behind us.
James's POV:
,,Where are they?" Kirk huffed impatiently, ,,They said five minutes not an hour." Kirk, as usual, was hyperventilating. I rolled my eyes and placed my hand on his shoulder to confront him.,,Relax man, Lars is probably just taking longer with his hair," Cliff said with a teasing chuckle. We all knew how particular Lars was about his appearance.
,,Yeah, probably," Kirk mumbled, still anxious. I rolled my eyes again. He was head over heels for Lia and it made him worry too easily. But then again, Lia was special. She was good for him in many ways - a great friend and guitar-playing buddy. Plus, she was one of my closest friends.,,Lars, stop with your crazy ideas," I heard Lia's voice chime in as the little bell above the diner door rang. The three of us turned our heads to see Lia walking in.
,,Mhmm okay," Lars mumbled as Lia sat down next to Kirk and gave him a quick kiss. ,,Oh la la," Cliff whistled playfully causing Lia to flip him off. I couldn't help but laugh at their playful behaviour.
,,You see Kirk, no need to be worried," I said, trying to embarrass him a little.,,Huh? Why should he be worried?" Lia asked, raising an eyebrow at me while Kirk blushed bright red.
,,He thought something happened to you since it took you two so long to get ready," Cliff clarified, causing Lia to chuckle.
,,Well it's not my fault she took forever," Lars chimed in, leaning over the table to grab a piece of bread from the basket. However, Lia noticed and swiftly pulled the basket away before he could reach it. Cliff laughed at their ongoing battle - Lia loved annoying Lars and deep down, I think he enjoyed being annoyed by her.
,,Aww Kirky, no need to be worried. And for the record, Lars took way longer than me," Lia declared, pulling the bread basket even farther away from Lars who was now resorting to ridiculous stretching positions in an attempt to reach it. I couldn't help but snort at how silly he looked.
,,I did not!" He grumbled after Lia finally stopped teasing him and started playing with Kirk's hair as they talked about something.
,,You really snagged a great catch with Lia," Cliff commented, causing me to look over at him. ,,I know, but what makes you say that?" I asked curiously.
,,Well, she's an amazing guitarist and a great friend. Plus, she seems to make Kirk really happy lately," Cliff explained, nodding towards Lia and Kirk who were currently laughing together about something undoubtedly silly.
,,I like her too, except for the fact that she steals my bread," Lars chimed in between bites of his bread. Cliff and I couldn't help but snicker - yes, Lia the notorious bread stealer.
,,So Lia, how are you liking your first tour with us?" I asked, starting a conversation with her.,,It's been amazing! I'm so grateful to you guys for making this happen," she answered happily while twirling one of Kirk's locks around her finger.
Kirk's POV
With Lia's head growing heavier on my shoulder, I could feel her succumbing to the exhaustion of our long journey. Eleven hours on a cramped plane followed by a seemingly endless car ride, with still one more hour left to go.
,,This is exhausting," Lars remarked, stretching his limbs as he emerged from a brief nap. ,,At least you're not the one driving," Cliff retorted from the driver's seat, prompting an eye roll from Lars.
,,Guys, please be quiet. You're going to wake her up," I pleaded, glancing down at Lia and hoping she wouldn't stir from her slumber. She becomes irritable when her sleep is disturbed.
,,Sorry, lover boy," James whispered with a smirk, causing me to flip him off in response. ,,At least I have someone to love," I shot back, earning James' own middle finger in return.
A/N Another chapter hope you liked it, and soon there will be a Metallica x soon-to-be Nirvana crossover, basically, the Metallica guys with Lia are gonna go to Aberdeen so stay tuned ig.
