I didn't know why I did this. I mean it wasn't me technically who took the babies. Oh god what did I do?!
How could I have done this to her?! And Matt! Poor Matt! I can just imagine in how much pain he is in...
| Matt's POV |
I am in so much pain! I can't even think! I can't even do anything without getting distracted.
Stephanie is doing a little better but still bad. People have stopped by to try and comfort Stephanie and I. It just never works. The more that I think people are feeling bad for me, the more that it makes me feel bad. And I just can't take it anymore.
"Matt!" I heard Stephanie say.
"Yes babe?" I asked.
"Can you come in here for a sec." She said and I walked into the living room.
"What's up?" I asked.
"I got a call just now.. They want you to go down to the police station and answer some questions.." She said.
"What about?" I asked.
"I don't know! Ok they didn't tell me!!" She yelled.
I couldn't say anything to her because I'm sure she'll start crying again.
"Ok" I said and it came out in a whisper.
I grabbed the keys and headed for the door.
"I didn't say they needed you now!" She said.
"Well you could have been more clear about that rather than just yelling at me.." I said.
She sighed. I heard her sobbing.
Now I sighed.
"Stephanie.. Please stop crying.. It's not healthy for you.." I said.
"Matt! You just don't understand! At least I don't think you do!" She said.
"Stephanie! I care just as much as you do! Those are my babies as well! You're their mother and I'm their father! Of course we're gonna feel like this! But we have to control ourselves! We can't just keep crying all the time!" I said.
"Yes we can!" She said and buried her face in my chest.
"I want them back Matt! I can't- I can't stand this! This pain that I'm feeling! To the point where I can't even breathe! It's just horrible and it makes me wish I was dead!" She said.
"What time do I have to go to the police station?" I asked.
"I think you should start heading over there. You were actually supposed to go when you were leaving.. I just wanted a hug from you.." She said letting out a laugh.
"Hm.. Well I should get going.. I love you." I said.
"I love you too." She said and we leaned in and our lips connected.
We pulled away.
"I'm glad to feel your lips on mine." I said and gave her one last kiss.
"Bye." She said.
"Do you want to come with me?" I asked smirking as I saw the look on her face that was pleading me to ask her.
She nodded her head quickly.
I laughed and we went out the door.
We arrived at the police station and we waited.
"Matthew Espinosa! Please come back here! As well you miss!" We heard a man with a very deep voice say.
"I'm scared." She said in a whisper and started chucking.
I laughed.
"You're fine!" I said and we walked in and the door slammed behind us causing us to jump.
"Please go into that room!" A deputy will ask you the following questions he has for you! Now you just swear you will tell the truth and nothing but the truth!" He said.
"Yes... I swear to tell nothing but the truth." I said.
"Go on in.." He said and the door opened and we walked in and just waited.
"Hello Matthew!.... And Stephanie! I didn't know you would be coming!" The deputy said.
"Yea I thought I would just come along. Better than being home alone right now.." She said with her smile fading away.
"Right.. Well let's get going on with this.. And just to warn you.. I don't want to make you guys uncomfortable or feel weird or react in a bad way to these questions.. I want honesty.. And no interruptions!" He said.
"Ok" Stephanie and I said in unison.
"Ok let's get started.. Matt first ones for you.. Have you ever had any contact with any one who you think may want harm to come to your family?" He asked.
"No.." I said.
"Ok.. Have you ever tried harming your own family?" He asked.
"What?! No why would you ask that?!" I asked furious now.
"Matt it was just question.. Ok next one... Do you have any idea on who you might think kidnapped your babies from you?" He asked.
"No.." I said.
"How about Stephanie? Do you think she would ever want any harm to come to your family?" He asked me.
"What?!" Stephanie stepped in.
"Babe I got this.. Why the hell would you even think it was us who are creating harm in this family? Why Stephanie? She's practically dying over this!! And you have the nerve to say that to my wi- my girlfriend!" I said correcting myself at the end.
"We're done here!" I said and walked out.
The whole ride home Stephanie did not say one word.
