CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE: THE RETURN

A NIGHT LATER, GOTHAM CITY:
Robin and Batgirl were involved in a chase, as they sat on the same bike, chasing a truck.

The thugs shot at them, as Batgirl said, "let's just hope there's no psycho with a flame thrower", Robin laughed, speeding up, as GCPD cars joined them. The police began shooting at the van's tires, causing it to crash into a trash can.

Robin and Batgirl parked up not far behind, as they opened the doors to the van, as Robin just smirked at the criminals, whilst moments later they were hand cuffed and on their way to the precinct.

As Jim appeared at the scene, Batgirl grappled upwards onto a ledge, whilst Robin spoke with him.

She looked down onto them both, as Robin joined her moments later, "you gonna do that every time?", Robin asked her, "I can't risk it", she answered, "fair enough..", Robin replied.

Meanwhile, as Batgirl and Robin headed back to the Batcave, a very familiar face wasn't far away. As Batman flew over the skies of Gotham in a small plane, he flew by Wayne Tower, catching Talon's running across the rooftops.

He immediately dived out of the place, gliding towards The Talon's and proceeded to attack them.

As Batman countered and deflected as many attacks as he could, he was cornered. Then Batman looked up and grappled onto a balcony and shot right up, with Talon's grabbing onto him, he managed to kick them off.

Meanwhile in The Bunker, Alfred was carving more Batarang's, little did he know he was being watched by a Talon who hid behind a wall. Suddenly, Alfred heard the elevator arriving, which was odd, as he quickly picked up his pistol, loading it in case of any danger.

Within moments, the elevator had opened, however no one was inside,when suddenly the Talon flew at Alfred, however, it had been thrown across the room.

Alfred was shocked and surprised to see what he did, Batman returned.

"stay back", he told Alfred, as Batman grasped onto the talon, punching it in the head, and told Alfred, "shoot it!", as Alfred shot it in the head. "They're like zombies, mindless things..", Batman said. Alfred still speechless, "are you okay?, where's Dick?", he asked, "he's out on duty", Alfred responded, "let me talk to him", Batman said as he approached the computer. "Dick, it's Bruce...", Batman told him however was cut off, "what-what?", Robin answered, "I know you have a lot of questions but go to Wayne Manor right now, do not return to the bunker. I'll meet you there", Batman explained, "is that?", Batgirl asked Robin, "yeah...yeah it is", he said with a slight smile of relief. "Okay, heading there now", Robin told him.

"What's going on?", Alfred asked, "The Court Of Owls are attacking the tower, we need to leave!", Batman responded, as he re-supplied his gadgets, as the Talon's began sprinting into the bunker from the secret passage to the streets. "In the car", Batman told Alfred, as they headed towards the Batmobile, as Batman fired up the engine, pushing buttons to activate the canons. "Let's get nuts", he said as he fired the afterburner, running down the Talon's, firing the canons, as the car, knocked them all out of the way as if they were nothing.

However, some Talon's managed to get onto the car, scratching and attempting to break in. The Batmobile drove rapidly through the streets, driving left and right to try and shake off the Talon's. As he did, he fired the afterburner again, incinerating the Talon's.

They were still onto them, as Batman could see them running across the buildings, so he did a U turn, then firing the after burner again, gunning down the Talon's in his way.

After driving for a couple of more minutes, speeding through the streets, they looked like they lost them, as Batman set route for Wayne Manor, leaving main land Gotham.
