Her eyes flutter open as daylight spills into her room. She tries to roll over and stretch, but finds herself trapped in a warm embrace. Strong arms curl around her, holding her in place. She can feel him breathing against her shoulder blade.

Her first instinct is to wriggle away from him. But then she pauses.

It's so early, and they are both tired after last night's events. If she moves now, she might wake him, and he looks so peaceful.

Jay has had a rough week. Between the attack on Ninjago City, and his own personal problems, it had taken its toll on him. And as his yang, Nya feels it is her duty to be there for him whenever he needs her. She can't remember the last time she saw him sleep so soundly.

So she stays.

And she doesn't mind the way he nuzzles his face into her shoulder blades, or the way his breath tickles her neck. In fact, she finds the whole thing strangely comforting.

Maybe that's why she likes waking up next to someone.

Because she feels... safe.

Nya frowns at the thought. Safe? Really? A ninja master shouldn't feel safe. But this is different.

There is no one else in the world that makes her feel that way.

When she is with Jay, she feels like she can just... be.

That's why she likes waking up next to him.

Because she feels loved.

Nya sighs happily, and burrows further into her bedmate's embrace.

If Jay notices her shifting in his arms, he doesn't say anything.

And if he does feel her move, he doesn't let on.
Instead, he cuddles her closer, and continues to sleep.

Jay stretches his long body and yawns loudly, rubbing his eyes as he sits up.

Unlike Nya, he's a morning person.

A fact which annoys Nya to no end.

The Master of Lightning glances over at his yang, still sound asleep. He smiles at the peaceful look on her face, and shakes his head in wonder.

He can't believe how much he loves this girl.

It's like nothing he's ever felt before.

Nya shifts in her sleep, and Jay quickly wraps his arms around her.

She mumbles something inaudible and Jay grins. He loves it when she does that.

Jay rests his chin on her head, and listens to her breathe. His hands wander her back, and he strokes her skin gently.

Nya's breathing quickens, and she turns her head towards him.

"Mmmm, Jay..." she says sleepily.

"Hey, Nya," he whispers.

"Morning."

She blinks open her eyes.

"G'morning," she replies, still groggy from sleep.

Jay plants a soft kiss on her lips.

"You're up early," she says.

"I couldn't sleep," Jay confesses.

Nya rubs the sleep from her eyes and yawns.

"What's wrong?" she asks.

"Nothing," he replies. "I was just thinking."
