My patience however ended when I had on a very large, bright yellow dress that clung to my body. Standing in front of the mirror I wanted to throw up from my reflection. Sheila fluffed the dress as she walked around me. "Sheila, what is going to happen tonight?" I asked her in an anxious tone. Finally giving in on my thoughts.
"Yellow is nice, but this color is a bit too much." She said and walked towards the racks once more. But, before she could leave I grabbed hold of her hand. The guard instantly sat up at the action, but I held her to me.
"What are you hiding from me?" I asked in a low tone.
Sheila tried to move her arm, but instantly realized it wouldn't be that easy. I've been training my body for years, I've been waiting for this moment. And to know she couldn't just pull my body around made me feel proud of myself. After a moment I let go of her perfectly toned arm. She looked at me with wide brown eyes and took in a deep breath. She only nodded as she turned her body towards me, "Humans are not permitted on any pack lands, unless they are mated to a werewolf. Which is rare, but it happens. That is one of the absolute laws, along with a few other things. Such as telling humans what we are." Sheila said and frowned, "Someone from our pack told the Alpha King about my dishonesty. My traitorous distasteful actions. Not only have I allowed you on our lands, I allowed you to know our secrets. I also have had you for years. You have been around other packs, but they always believed you were my pet. A human who we use for personal gain, or other things." She said and looked down.
"What is going to happen?" I asked her.
"Well, I don't even know. He could offer you to become a werewolf. Or he could kill both of us." Sheila said and sighed, "I'm hoping he sees the beauty you are and allows the ritual so you could shift into a wolf."
"She has a better chance of finding a mate." The guard said as he flipped through a magazine. I ignored him as I tried to hide my confusion.
"You mean becoming a werewolf?" I asked and shook my head, "I can't do that! So many people have died doing that!"
"That is entirely true." The man said and leaned back on the chair, "If you don't have werewolf blood in your veins, I doubt you would survive. Really only half breeds have successfully shifted since the first Alpha King." The guard lifted his leg as he sighed, "It would be easier if you have a mate, but that means you have to accept the bond. But, even then, the chances of you becoming a wolf is slim to none. Most werewolves prefer their mates to stay human. Keep them alive."
"That is not entirely true Paul." Sheila said annoyed, "If a royal member is present and they give the bite, there's a better chance." She said and smiled towards me.
"Do you really think the Alpha King will-"
"There's a chance." Sheila said quickly and looked back at him.
"What is your plan?" I asked her. Sheila lifted her fingers and softly traced my cheeks.
"I'm hoping the Alpha King is memorized with your beauty." She said, I could hear Paul behind me softly chuckle. She ignored him as she touched one of the curls, "He will offer you the choice of becoming one of us, and hopefully he is the one who bites you. If not, I will." She said and looked at me. I sucked my lips in and looked at the dress she held in her hands.
"So you are preparing me to be the Alpha King's dinner?" I asked with a hint of sarcasm in my voice. She smiled tightly and nodded.
"I am." She said, but her voice didn't hide the trace of fear in it. She only pushed the dark fabric in my arms, "Try this on."
With wobbly legs I walked back to the large changing room. Slowly I stopped my actions and looked in the mirror, was I worthy of the King's bite? Did I want to be a werewolf? I laughed softly there was no way I would survive it anyway. Only one human had turned into a werewolf successfully. Either way I saw it, I was going to die. I pulled the fabric over my head and pushed it down my body. And once I finished, I looked at my curvy body, I wasn't skinny like Sheila. I had a few extra pounds, but I also had muscle. My hips were larger than I would want, and my chest was bigger. Even now, this dress had to be at least 3 if not 4 sizes bigger than her own.
