Third Person's POV
All the family members—except for the three older children and the youngest Romano—had already reached the Romano Mansion after being informed of the possible attack at the ball. No one wanted unnecessary bloodshed, especially with their families present.
Even the Volkovs had driven to the Romano Mansion, as it was closer than their own estate in Milan.
"I knew it that these Australians were going to try something.." Alessandro bellowed angrily, speaking to his brother, best friend, and brother-in-law as they hurried toward the entrance.
Guards were immediately ordered to tighten security around the mansion. No risks would be taken tonight.
"Bastian really wants to end his life doesn't he??"Marcos said darkly, agreeing with his brother.
"We won't give him any chance to even touch a strand.. he's forgetting that right now he's not going against only one but four biggest and strongest Mafias.." Richard said coldly, fury evident in his tone.
"Don't worry guys, we're going to face the Australians together if that's what we have to do.." Dmitri said, trying to comfort them—though his own anger burned just as fiercely.
The younger men stayed close, their faces tight with rage. The women, on the other hand, sought comfort beside their husbands, anxiety evident in every movement.
Little did they know—the only person the Australians intended to kidnap was the newly returned member of the Romano family: Anastasia.
The three elder boys had deliberately kept this detail hidden, unwilling to alarm the family further. They intended to handle it themselves.
Everyone gathered in the living room, seating themselves restlessly on sofas and couches. Less than an hour into the ball, and they had already fled.
Ten minutes passed.
Leo paced, his unease growing by the second.
Everyone else arrived... so why haven't they?
Viktor noticed it too.
"Four people haven't arrived still.." he said, scanning their faces.
Worry spread instantly as the women panicked, as they looked around to see who was missing and wondered where their kids were.
"Sandro," Alessia said, panic rising as she grasped her husband's arm, "Vincenzo, Ana, Mateo and Ethan.. none of them is here.."
She hurried out of the living room and everyone followed.
No car.
Nothing.
"Leo, call them son.." Alessandro said anxiously, rubbing his face and exhaling sharply.
"Call not reaching dad.." Leo replied after pulling the phone from his ear.
"Oh Sandro what could have happened??" Alessia broke down, tears streaming as her, María and Evelyn worried over their sons.
The men tried to comfort their wives, though fear gripped them too. The Volkovs watched helplessly—Elina and Dmitri praying silently, because those four were as dear to them as their own children.
Viktor couldn't take it anymore. As their business partners and close family friends, he wanted to do something.
He stood abruptly. "We'll try and see if we can do something."
Gesturing Leo and Dante to follow him, the three left for Vincenzo's office to track the missing members.
An hour passed, yet there was no trace of them whatsoever. Viktor, Dante and Leo were still trying to tracks the cars and their locations, when Leo's phone buzzed.
