Friday arrived again, marking the end of the week.

I stepped out of my class and walked toward the university exit, my bag slung over my shoulder.

Ever since I came here, I had lived in the hostel for the first few weeks. Back then, I didn't need to inform anyone before stepping out. I guess that habit stuck with me, so I left uni on my own without informing my brothers.

And oh, that had been a huge mistake.

There was a bookstore I had noticed during my daily commute to and from uni. It was about a ten-minute walk away. I needed some course books and also wanted to pick up a few literature novels, so I made my way toward it.

After walking for a few minutes along the footpath, I finally reached my destination. I stopped at the entrance and looked up at the signboard.

Books For You

I stepped inside and was immediately taken aback by the lavish, stylish interior. The place was huge. A receptionist sat at one corner, surrounded by shelves stacked with countless books.

I smiled at her and walked deeper inside, moving through the rows of shelves. After browsing a few columns, I found my course books and picked them up. Then I started looking for the literature section to grab something interesting for my leisure time.

I wish there was at least a library in that huge house of mine, I thought.

Dragging my fingers along the spines of the books, reading the titles engraved on them, I suddenly stopped.

Kurt Austin Adventures.

Looks interesting

I reached out to grab the book—but another hand snatched it first.

"Hey, that's mine—" I turned sharply.

"No, it's not yours. I took it first," a deep voice replied.

I froze.

Piercing blue eyes stared back at me.

Where have I seen them?
I racked my brain—and then it hit me.

The idiot from the park.

"Aren't you that idiot who bumped into me and ruined my ice cream?" I bellowed angrily. "Now you're here disturbing me again?"

His gaze sharpened. "How did your eyes turn from hazel to grey?" he asked suspiciously, examining my face closely.

"They were lenses, and that's none of your business," I snapped. "Give the book back. I was the first one to touch it."

I tried to pull the book from his grip, but damn—he wasn't even trying, yet it wouldn't budge.

"No. I grabbed it first, so it's mine. Besides, this NUMA Travels book—I've been looking for it for a while."

"Give it back, you bitch," I shrieked, just as he turned away. Thankfully, no one else was in this aisle.

His eyes darkened instantly.

"How dare you speak to me like that? Do you know who I am?" he said in a low, raspy voice.

Let's admit it—he looks hot, my conscience swooned.

Now is not the time. Shut up.

"Do you want me to worship you?" I retorted sarcastically, pressing my palms together dramatically.
"I don't care who the hell you are. You don't get to take what I was about to take."
