Viktor Sergeyevich Volkov

The wheels scratched off the black asphalt as I drove through the empty roads without caring about the speed limit. My heart was in a deep turmoil and it was causing me so much pain.

Ana's last words echoed in my head, tearing my insides apart, as they caused a wave of agony pass through me. How could she? How could she reject me so harshly? Was I a joke to her? Or my feelings were a joke to her? The first time in my life when I decided to give someone my heart, she broke it so easily.

I couldn't think properly. My thoughts were jumbled, mixture of emotions I couldn't decipher. I never felt like that before. And it was irking me so much that she and her words had so much power over me. Couldn't she take mercy on me? Couldn't she at least feel something for me? Rejecting me so harshly.. was it really needed? I thought we had something.. like it was not just me who felt this way..

I let out a humourless laugh.

Such a fool I am...

I drove through the city, my car knowing no direction as I drove senseless, breaking through all the red lights. I couldn't care less right now.

My thoughts drifted again, as I wandered past the memories of the past events, of the times when we fought, annoyed eachother and left no chance to mock eachother. But it was something.. there was still something.. I wondered how it would have felt if she had returned my feelings.

Loving her, kissing her, taking her on dates and all. I smiled unknowingly thinking about all this but my mood dampened quickly as I thought back to how she rejected me harshly. Why did I even fall for her. I reminded myself again and again that she was a walking danger, that she was trouble yet I couldn't stop.

Guess not everything goes your way Viktor..

I heaved a big sigh, my head falling over the driving wheel of the car and then lifted it up again to look back at the road.

I sped up, my mind a mess.

What could go wrong? It was all fine? We weren't like this...

Maybe she likes someone else.. a small thought popped up in my head, making me wince in pain at the very feeling.

No no! That can't be.. The thought of her being with someone else killed me. No I had to win her heart. She made me feel like a better man. Even if we didn't start on good terms but she still made me happy. Just the mere thought of her filled me with joy. I couldn't loose her. She was so precious to me.

My parents were happily in love even though my father could put you six feet underground. Mum was his safe harbour.. someone who kept him grounded. And I always wanted a love like them. I wanted someone to be my safe harbour too. And I knew who it was meant to be. I can't give up.

And I'm going to get my Ana back no matter what.

Sighing, I look through the rear view mirror briefly but frowned when I saw a car following me. I had left the house alone so my guards weren't with me, then who was following me.

I pushed my feet over the accelerator and increased the speed, so I would lose the car but they kept trailing me. It wasn't hard to deal with whoever they were but I was on my last piece of strength and wanted no trouble so I thought it was wiser to ignore who was after me and go back home.

Suddenly, the car trailing me increased its speed, matching mine and crossed me as they overtook and made me stop by halting in the middle of the road.

The tires made a loud screeching, echoing through the silent night. I could hear several birds nearby flying away at the sound.
