Anastasia's POV
I was ready, all decked up in an orange full-sleeved button-down blouse tucked into charcoal straight-cut trousers, trainers on my feet, and a strapped bag slung across my upper body. It held the usual essentials—my phone, some cash, a credit card, gum, and my shades.
Isa, Katerina, and I were sitting in the living room with the rest of the family and the Volkovs, waiting for Eunha and her parents to arrive.
Eunha was leaving tomorrow, so we had planned a small outing together today. I didn't know when we would get another chance to hang out like this again.
"Are you sure this is a good idea, dear?" Mum asked worriedly. "You know there's still danger outside with the Australians lurking around."
"Relax, Mom," I reassured her calmly. "We're only going out for a few hours. Besides, we'll have guards with us—and I'm perfectly capable of taking care of everyone."
"Right..." Vincenzo narrowed his eyes at us.
"Remember what I told you. Be careful about your surroundings. Don't stay out too long. Come back early. Make sure to stay to—"
I cut him off, repeating his lecture for the hundredth time.
"—stay together, stay close to the guards, and inform you even if we get slightly suspicious about anything."
I mimicked him perfectly.
His lips flattened in irritation as he glared at me for interrupting.
"I get it, Enzo," I huffed, rolling my eyes. "This is the fifth time you've said it. We're not going to war. It's just an outing."
"You don't need to be sassy with me, Anastasia Rose Romano," he shot back. "It's my duty as your elder brother to look out for you."
I gave him a sheepish smile before lunging forward and hugging him.
His arms wrapped around me while he continued glaring down at me.
"Aww... do you love me this much?" I sang teasingly, batting my eyelashes dramatically.
The room burst into laughter.
Enzo flicked my forehead before squeezing me into a tight hug.
The doorbell rang, indicating the guests had arrived. I pulled away from the hug instantly and rushed to the door.
"Eunha!" I exclaimed the moment I opened it.
She stood there with her parents, smiling widely. Before I could react, she pulled me into a bone-crushing hug.
"I—can't—breathe—" I tapped her shoulder.
She gave me one last squeeze and finally let go.
"Woooh," I exhaled, catching my breath. She smiled sheepishly, making me roll my eyes at her.
Turning to her parents, I greeted them politely.
"Annyeonghaseyo," I said, bowing lightly.
(Hello)
Mum and Dad walked over and greeted them as well. They exchanged pleasantries before mom and dad guided them into the living room.
As we walked, Eunha looked around in amazement.
"Dangsin-ui jib-eun jeongmal keugo areumdawo!" she exclaimed excitedly.
(Your house is really big and beautiful!)
I simply smiled.
Inside the living room, the elders exchanged greetings while Eunha hugged Isa and Katerina. The three of them had become good friends since the day we met—and our group chat proved it. Isa and Eunha never stopped talking.
