Gunshots suddenly rang through the air, startling everyone around.

The few people scattered across the park and nearby pathways shrieked and began running for their lives, panic spreading like wildfire. Chaos erupted instantly. People pushed past one another, desperate to escape the danger. The scene resembled a crowd fleeing from a raging blaze that threatened to swallow them whole.

Our bodyguards immediately surrounded us, their weapons ready, their expressions cold and alert. They were prepared to kill if necessary.

The girls moved closer to me while I stood rigid, still trying to process what had just happened. Before any one of us had the chance to inform the family back at home, the guards were shoot unconscious, leaving us four unprotected.

"Not so fast, beauties..."

A group of men stepped forward, surrounding us in a circle. Guns were tucked into their waistbands, their eyes filled with malicious intent. They were large, muscular men, forming a tight ring around us, leaving no possible escape. We slowly backed up until our backs pressed against a large tree. I stood in front of the girls instinctively, spreading my arms slightly to shield them.

Instead of fear, I glared at the men, my expression cold and stoic.

The men parted, making way for the one who had spoken.

The moment I saw his face, recognition struck me. He was the third-in-command—a man whose face I had seen just days ago on Leo's laptop while the men discussed business.

"What do you want Cole?" I spat.

"Oh, what a surprise," he chuckled mockingly. "The Italian Mafia princess knows my name. I'm honored..."

He gave an exaggerated bow, a sickening smirk plastered across his ugly face.

Meanwhile, my mind raced desperately, searching for a way out of the situation.

"Isa... do you know how to fight?" I whispered, glancing sideways at her. She stood behind me, her fear obvious. Tears had already begun to spill from her eyes.

"No... I only know the basics... I never had an interest, and no one ever taught me properly because there was never a need for it..." she whispered back, clutching the sleeve of my blouse.

"You Kate?"

"Only basics.."

I cursed silently. That meant I was alone in this. And I couldn't risk Eunha getting hurt. I had promised to take care of her.

"But I know how to.." Eunha whispered, fear trembling in her voice.

"No Eunha.." I warned firmly. "I promised your parents I would bring you back safely.."

"But—"I cut her off quickly.

"When I say run, don't look back. Hide somewhere no one can see you. I'll come find you once I'm done here. Be careful, there could be more of them. And call the family when you get the chance.."

"Ana, what the hell?!" Isa whisper-yelled. "You think you can face these seven men alone? Are you crazy?"

"No time for negotiation.."

"Enough whispering..." Cole's voice boomed as he ordered his men. "Get them all into the car.."

I stepped to my right and in one swift motion, I struck the man closest to me, knocking him unconscious instantly.

I shoved the girls towards the opening I had created. "Run and don't look back.." I yelled.

They ran away, doing what I told them and were out of our sight.
