Thomas suggested we look around for useful supplies. So we handed out torches and started searching. I found a backpack and a water bottle. There was a running tap that we used to fill them. Whether or not the water was actually safe to drink, we didn't know, but It was better than dehydration.

I scavenged through a pile of clothes,  taking a pair of trousers and a t- shirt shoving them in my bag. It was always useful to have extras.

"Here," Newt handed me a brown jacket. "Pretty sure it's your size."

I took it, putting it on. Surprisingly, it fit me perfectly, so I returned to looking around.

"Why are you pushing me away?" He asked.

"Because you're a dick. And you think I'm a bitch." I picked up a small pocket knife, shoving it in my boot for safe keeping.

"I don't think you're a bitch." He laughed "I just think you're stubborn."

I walked in the opposite direction, continuing to look around but he followed me. "We've always had a sort of- hatred for eachother. Maybe we could actually try and get along, even be friends?"

"We could never be friends." I put emphasis on every word.

" I don't believe in never."

"And I don't believe in always."

He smiled cheekily "you know what they say, opposites attract."

"Never."

"Always." His soft, brown eyes locked onto mine, in a gaze that I couldn't seem to pull away from. I stuck my tongue out at him.

"Y/n! Come over here." Teresa called.

I blinked out of our fixed look and went over to where Teresa was. She held up a box of tampons. "Look what I found."

"Oh my god! How many are there?"

"Full box, we can split it." She gave half of them to me, which I put in a zipper pocket in my backpack."Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah."

She sat down, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear. "I was just wondering if you remember anything from before the maze?"

"No, I don't remember anything, but I get feelings. About people usually, like I've known them before."

"Who do you feel like you've known before?"

"Thomas, Minho, Chuck, you... Newt."

"Do you -" She was cut off by the lights flickering on. Someone must have found the fuse box.

We got up and went over to the others, who looked just as confused. Then Thomas started shouting. Him and Minho were running towards us, shouting for us to run. Chasing behind, was... some things. They looked like people, but they weren't acting like people. Snarling, and twitching.

"Oh shit!" Newt cursed.

They caught up to us, and we bolted. I have no idea where exactly we were running to, but away from those things. We headed up the broken escalators, hoping to gain a hight advantage.

"What the hell are those things!" I shouted.

"I don't know just keep moving!" Thomas responded.

My legs were tiring, but I knew I couldn't stop, or even slow down. Glass breaking, caught my attention and I stopped to look behind me. One of them had Newt on his back, snarling and biting. Thomas kicked it over a ledge, and helped Newt back onto his feet. "Thanks Tommy!"

We got to a dead end, exept from three doors which were all locked. Thomas pushed on the furthest one and it opened an inch. "This one!"

He barged into it in an attempt to get it open, but it wouldn't budge.

"I'll hold them off." Winston began shooting at them with a shotgun.

"Get it open!" I yelled.

Fry moved Thomas out of the way and shoved into the door, it swinging open. We made our escape, all exept for Winston who was seized by the maniacs, scratching at his exposed stomach.

I turned back, grabbing a hold of him, straining my arms trying not to let him go. Thomas and Minho held the door, stopping the inhuman things from getting through. I managed to pull Winston away from their grasp, just as Newt and Fry grabbed a hold of him, carrying him away like a wounded soldier.

I looked back at Thomas and Minho who were still pushing the door. Minho's eyes were filled with horror as he yelled at me "Y/N LOOK OUT!"

One of them slipped through the gap in the door and pounced at me, sending me flying onto my back, knocking the wind out of me. I screamed as it scratched and growled on top of me, pushing it away as much as I could. I kicked violently, shoving it away, but it grabbed onto my legs, biting into my flesh.

My screams bounced off the mall walls as I reached down into my boot and pulled the knife I had stuffed in there out stabbing the thing square in the chest. It fell to the side and I took the opportunity to get back onto my feet. My leg however, gave out and I Stumbled back to the ground.

"Minho go help her! I'll be fine just go!" Thomas told him.

Minho ran from the door towards me, wrapping his arm under mine and supporting my back to get me to my feet "Come on Shank, let's get the hell outta here."

I moved as fast as my legs would carry me, with his support. It felt like bolts of lightning were shooting up my leg. The aim of survival was the only thing keeping me from collapsing.

Teresa motioned for us to hide under some rubble, so Minho lowered me down next to her as I groaned at the pain in my leg.

"What the bloody hell happened?" Newt almost looked concerned.

"One of them things attacked her."

"Fuck." I scrunched my face, whimpering at the burning feeling. Blood trickling down from underneath my trouser leg.
