PILOT: EP 1

Aspen and Ginny both sat seated in their classroom. Ginny was thinking about boys and what they wanted, while Aspen was talking with a group of classmates she considered friendly in that class. She was always the social butterfly.

"Virginia and Aspen Miller?" A staff member said from the front of the classroom. The siblings looked up with a confused look which prompted the lady to go on. "Can I talk to you guys in the hall for a minute?" She asked.

Both Ginny and Aspen got up and walked to the front of the classroom. Aspen looked at Ginny and gave her a "what's going on" look but Ginny just shrugged in response. With that, they both walked into the hallway confused as hell.

"Virginia..Aspen" The women started.

"It's Ginny."

The woman signed and continued her initial statement. "Your stepfather's been in an accident, your mom's on her way here with your brother."

".. I'm sorry you two he didn't make it." The lady said.

Ginny gasped and Aspen frowned. Aspen didn't really know how to react. She didn't care much about Kenny, her stepfather but she did feel a bit bad since thats the normal human reaction to a death.

The Funeral was a bit odd. Being the current family of Kenny at the time he died brought a lot of attention to Aspen and Ginny.

Aspen and Ginny stared down at Kennys body but Aspen couldn't help but think of how weird an open casket funeral. He also looked weird in her opinion.

"Poor Amber Lynn, I know they had their problems with the divorce, but still she must be devastated." Some random lady said.

"Have you seen the new wife?" A blonde lady with short hair said. Now that caught Ginny and Aspens attention. Aspen personally hated gossip and already knew the lady was about to say some bullshit. "Who shows that much cleavage at a funeral?" The lady finished with.

Ginny audibly sighed and Aspen shook her head. Ginny grabbed Austin and Aspen and walked over to the lady.

"Oh!" Ginny said after purposefully shoving the old woman. "Pardon me. I tripped." She said before walking off.

"What was that about?" Aspen asked taking her hand out of Ginnys hand.

"She was talking mom." Ginny replied while rolling her eyes.

Aspen sighed at Ginnys antics. Aspen was never one for confrontation or anything of that sort. She steered clear from drama as best as she could. At least she tried to.

Aspen, Ginny, and Austin watched as Georgia "cried" and went on about how good Kenny was. Aspen couldn't help but roll her eyes. Kenny was an asshole to her. He was just rich and well absent. Georgia continued to cry and go on about how he was a generous man as Ginny thought about how much of a powerhouse her mom was and Aspen thought about being anywhere but here.

It wasn't me by shaggy blasted in the car speakers as Georgia and Austin sang along. Ginny was driving the car and Aspen was in the back with her head in some comic book.

Ginny looked back at Georgia and Austin singing along then looked to Aspen to see if she was catching whatever was going on. Ginny turned back and turned off the radio earning a complaint from Georgia.

"Hey!" Georgia said.

"Im sorry, Do you think this song's appropriate for a nine year old?" Ginny asked in a concerned manner.

"Oh please" Georgia said dismissing her daughter's complaints. "He doesn't understand any of it. Austin, what's this song about?"

"Doing it on the bathroom floor, getting caught and lying so you don't get in trouble." Austin said proudly.
