Karina's P.O.V.
"Nothing, loser." she replied before looking away.
I creased my forehead as I kept my eyes on her. Ever since she apologized, she became weird. Awkward and weird.
She wandered her gaze around but kept her head still. I know that, she would do that whenever her friends would compliment her.
Why is she even doing that now...
It was only now that I realized how close we were- physically, of course. I could see the small details on her appearance. Like the small length of her eyelashes, and the baby hair that was hanging against her ear.
My eyes drifted down to the curve of her chin, and the shape of her jawline. I have heard unpopular rumors of some students admiring her. As little as they were, I see what they were looking at.
I gulped as I felt that weird sensation inside me again. It's really bothering me, and I don't even know what to do with it or why it even happens.
Do I drink that much coffee?
Her lips were moving, like she was saying something. But all I could hear was the rain and that nervous feeling in my chest. Was it just me or did the rain get louder?
"Did you become deaf now or what?"
I was brought back to my senses when she looked at me and spoke.
"What?" I asked.
"I said, the rain is slowly stopping now. We could go." she repeated.
I looked away and cleared my throat, standing up and fixing my clothes. We waited for a little while for the rain to lessen before walking back to school.
"Y/n!" we both looked up to see Xiaoting walking over to us. Or rather, to Cha Y/n.
"Are you okay? The teacher told us you went out so I sent you a message. Then it suddenly rained." she worriedly said.
"I'm fine. We stayed under a shed in the park." the girl answered, looking at me for a second.
"Okay guys. We should all go in the van now before it starts raining again." our teacher announced.
We went one by one. Since we already had our own seat arrangement earlier, I was expecting to be where I was and sit beside Cha Y/n. Until I saw Xiaoting on my seat, with Y/n beside her.
I was supposed to take back my place, but they were already talking with each other and didn't even notice me looking at them. So I just rolled my eyes before taking a seat at the back.
Your P.O.V.
It was a long ride back to our town. Mostly because we all were tired, so the whole drive was quiet. Although, I wasn't able to sleep. Something kept bothering me that I couldn't even feel sleepy.
Until we arrived back at school and it was time to go home. I was too tired to walk, so I just called a cab. A part of me felt excited that I can finally tell my parents that I won. But a small part of me also feels nervous.
What if they don't appreciate it?
As soon as I arrived home, I quickly brought out my certificate and saw my parents in the living room. I put up a big smile and immediately caught their attention.
"Mom, dad, we won the competition!" I beamed.
I wasn't expecting much, knowing their attitudes towards me. But I was hoping for compliments or support, at least.
