Ilya spent the night down the hall, in Vito's wing, and even with the guards outside the door, I couldn't get any sleep. I was too worried about Ilya. I stayed with Ilya in the medical building until Alessio let him leave, but not before having someone walk with him to Vito's. Caio and I didn't talk about the mission or him leaving, not saying anything, not even this morning as we laid cuddled against each other.
His lips were pressed to the side of my head. "Did you get any sleep last night, Amore?"
"No. Not really." I admitted.
"We will find Vito, I promise you that."
"I'm worried Ilya is going to lose it."
"I understand. But they won't kill him. They are running scared." Caio said, and while it helped a little, it wouldn't help Ilya to know that. Sighing, I pulled away from him.
"I'm going to make breakfast and take some to Ilya, and check on him."
"Alright. But come back for just a few more minutes." Caio said, and I snuggled back against him.
I could feel the tension coming off of Caio, and I knew he was worried about Vito and Ilya. His promise to find Vito helped to ease my mind, even if I knew it was a laborious task. I wanted to stay with Caio and find comfort in his arms, but I knew that Ilya needed more than that. I had to go and check on him, and make sure he was okay.
I gave Caio a kiss before I slipped out of the bed and turned to face him. "Keep the bed warm. I'll be coming back for more kisses and a nap." I said, smiling at him.
"If you need me, I'm just a phone call away."
"I know. I love you, and I'll be back shortly."
"Matteo?"
"Yeah?" I said, turning back around again.
"I love you too, more than you might even know. There are not enough words to express my love for you in either language we speak."
"If I didn't have to see Ilya and make sure he was ok, you would have talked me back into bed." I sighed, before leaving the room to go make food for Ilya. I was on autopilot in the kitchen, making all kinds of things and stuffing them into two containers. One for Ilya and one for me. I put the rest on a plate.
"Caio, breakfast is out here for you when you're hungry. I'm just going to tuck it into the microwave. If you're not hungry, cover it and put it in the fridge." I hollered before grabbing the containers and heading out the door. I walked down the hall, stopping at the door, and one henchman let me inside without saying a word.
It was freezing inside, but the lights were on, and I could hear Alessio.
"Ilya, please, just do as I've asked. If you won't cooperate with me, I will take you to the observation room in the medical building again. Vito will not be happy if you let yourself—--"
"Hey, I'm here. I brought food too." I hollered, making sure they knew I was here. I set the food on the table, and Alessio came out, his hair a mess from pulling his hand through it.
"Did you sleep at all last night? You look like Ilya does, exhausted."
"Not really. Ilya didn't sleep either?"
"Not enough."
"Ok, I'll see if I can get him to sleep more." I said, looking up when Ilya came out of the room, too. Bundled up in a sweater and looking miserable.
"I brought you good food." I said.
"Thank you."
"We are going to eat together. Then we both need a nap. So after we eat, I'm going to flick on the tv, and dim the lights. Put on something to pass out to."
