"Why are they all so complicated..." Danny muttered to herself as she roamed the shop. After a few months of saving up some more money on top of what she already had stashed, she finally had enough for a motorcycle, albeit a used one. The only problem was that she didn't know what the hell she was looking at. Despite being mentally 26, she had no idea what specs were or even what a carburetor was. Whenever she looked at any of the information booklets, everything just looked like gibberish. A quiet sigh escaped her lips before she exited the shop and pulled out her phone. After a couple of seconds, she found the contact she was looking for and pressed "call." After two rings, it connected with a click.
"Hey, Kenny, are you free right now?" she asked as she leaned against the building's outer wall.
"Me and Mikey were just riding around, so we're not doing anything important. Why do you ask?"
"Great. Well, I was going to buy a bike, but then I realized that I didn't know what the hell I was doing. Please help." She had a motor license and knew how to drive a motorcycle, but had no clue what was good. In her mind, as long as it ran, it was good. Now that she was spending an exuberant amount of money on one though, she wanted to make sure that she had gotten something decent.
He let out a chuckle. "Yeah, we'll help ya out. Which shop are you at?"
Once she gave him the location, he said that they'd be there in five minutes. With that, she hung up and sighed, quietly scolding herself for not being more prepared. On most occasions, she was overprepared, but this time around it slipped her mind that not all vehicles are the same. While she waited, she played some Tetris on her phone. Until now, she had completely forgotten that flip phones even had games. Simple ones, but games are games.
"Danny!" Mikey happily exclaimed as he dismounted his bike and went over to the girl, who was completely zoned into the game on her phone. When she didn't acknowledge him, he stopped and crossed his arms with a pout.
Draken shook his head lightly at his friend's behavior with an amused smile as he closed the distance between him and Danny. "Hey," he said as he poked her forehead.
"Aww, you made me lose," she pouted as the final block fell into place.
"Isn't your bike more important?" Mikey asked with a grin.
"Unless you'd rather play Tetris all day," Draken added with his own grin.
"Nah, I'm ready for a bike," Danny replied with her own smile as she put her phone into her jacket pocket. "I'm a Captain now, it'd be lame not to have one."
"Exactly," Mikey agreed as they made their way into the shop.
"How much money do you have?" Draken asked as he followed Mikey in.
"500,000. I can afford most of the stuff in here," she replied as she followed him in.
Both boys abruptly stopped and looked at her with wide eyes. "How'd you get that kinda cash?" they asked in sync.
"Been saving for a while," she replied with a chuckle. "I'm decently good at it, believe it or not."
With a shared look, they started walking through the rows of bikes. For the first few minutes, they argued back and forth on what she should get, one time saying the bike was fast, but then it didn't look cool enough, and so on and so forth.
Mikey let out a huff before looking back at Danny, who was just watching and only partially understanding what they were talking about. "What are you looking for in the bike?"
"Um... One that'll work?" she replied, utterly confused. Do they do different things??
They both facepalmed at the simpleminded answer. It was times like these that they could tell that she was really Takemichi's sister.
