"I still can't come back yet. I just can't leave Kazutora like this."
Those words from last night replayed in Danny's mind once again. She could tell Kazutora had some issues, after all, he blamed Mikey for Mikey's brother's death when he caused it himself. It was a natural response of the brain to shift the blame to someone else if the stress is too great, but the boy still needed some help.
"You ready for this?" Mitsuya asked from next to Danny as they waited for the gates to be opened.
"Fighting, yes. Everything else, no," she truthfully answered as she tied her hair up into a bun. "I've never been in a leadership role before, so I'm completely lost." She gave him a tight smile as her mind started thinking about that stuff again. This is why she worked completely alone on her manga. She didn't know how to direct people. She didn't really want to direct people.
"It's not that much different from being a normal member," he said with a chuckle as he saw Danny starting to space off again. She looked back up at him with a bit of a questioning look. "The biggest change is that you get to participate in major decisions. Whether or not to go to war with another gang, kick someone out, or let someone in. There are times you'll have to lead the members of your division, but it's not that often that you have to do anything big."
She let out a relieved sigh. That made things a lot easier. She had been overthinking nothing... That still didn't mean she was ready for this role though. Not in the least.
On the other side of the gate inside of the abandoned car lot were a lot of different people. Starting with the familiar duo, was Takemichi and Chifuyu. The latter had just been explaining how these things usually went and told him who some of the spectators were and that they'd have a gang acting as a sort of referee today.
"You guys ready?! Let's bring out the stars for today!" Hansen, the commander of Ikebukuro Criminal Black Members, announced. "Tokyo Manji Gang!" The gates for their side opened, revealing Mikey and Draken in the front, the captains behind them, and the rest of Toman's members behind them as they started walking in. "Valhalla!" The other gate opened, showing the much larger group with Hanma in the front and Kazutora behind him with a much larger number of members behind them.
Mikey continued forward as everyone else came to a stop. He spoke with Hansen for a quick moment before rejoining the rest of Toman.
"Representatives from each gang, step forward!"
Draken and Kazutora were the two to step forward. After a minute of talking, Kazutora slugged Hansen, delivering a gut punch right after.
Danny, however, hardly noticed what happened since her eyes landed on a familiar pair of brothers. The first time she had ever seen them was when she was sixteen. Sayu ended up pointing them out and explaining who they were. Ran and Rindo Haitani, the Kings of Roppongi. If she ever had a crush, it would've been those two. Hell, she even based a couple of characters off of them. Looking at them now though, it was obvious that they were strong. They even came off as a bit unhinged to her trained eyes. Would that stop her from simping over them? No. She's driven by manga and has always been a villain-lover.
"Give me a break," Kazutora spoke, bringing Danny back out of her fantasies. "Overseeing the fight? Conditions? You guys come here to play house or some shit?" He turned back toward Valhalla while still keeping his eyes on Toman. "We came here to beat the shit outta you until you're dead!"
"Wanna get shit started already, Mikey?" Hanma asked with a malicious grin.
"Let's go, Toman!" Mikey shouted before leading the charge.
Dust was kicked up as everyone from both sides charged, filling the area with a brown haze. Toman's Captains and Vice-Captains were the first ones to begin the attack on Valhalla. Focusing on Danny, she had just taken down a second guy. A third, larger guy aimed a kick for her abdomen, but his foot was met with nothing but air after she instinctively dropped into a partial split. Using her arms as support, she sent her own hard kick up at him. Her foot connected with his jaw, knocking him down before she got up.
