21 The aftermath

The morning after the reunion.

Narrators POV:

It was a quiet chilly Sunday morning, in the small town of berk. But it still was buzzing with life from the events of the previous nights. From the few scandals that were revealed and happened, to the damaging prank the twins pulled at the event, to the amount of drunk reunioners, to the overall gossip that was spread during the evening.

But the most spread gossip was the return of the mayor's lost son, with the feistiest valkyrie of their age group. The news of him returning to the reunion already spread within days throughout the entire town, but now that he actually did, the news spread like a wildfire throughout the whole town and neighbouring towns and communities. And by the next morning, everyone in town saw the video of him confronting his ex, which left some shocked citizens of the town and also some proud figures, like the mayor of the town and the owners of the Hofferson trucking business.

But speaking of the man, he had a slow morning, spent well with a family breakfast with his parents and just catching up with them, before he had an errand to run. So after an hour spent with his family he took his car to drive to the destination he had in mind. He drove for a few minutes, before he came up to a small redbrick house that was placed on the outskirts of the town, where he pulled into the dirt pathway that led up to the house. After he parked his car, he got out before he made his way to the front door and lightly knocked on the door.

After a few seconds, the door opened to reveal an excited senior brunette with an orange ribbon tied into her hair. "Hey Hiccup," she greeted before she gave him a hug.

Hiccup smiled and hugged her back in a brotherly way and replied, "Good morning to you too, Emma. Are your parents back yet?"

Emma pulled back and gestured into the house and replied, "Yes, they came back a few minutes ago. They are excited to see you, they're waiting in the living room."

Hiccup walked into the house as Emma closed the door behind him and waited for her to lead the way to the living room as he looked at the photo's of the family on the wall. He smiled at the laughing family of four before he followed Emma as she practically skipped down the hall to the next room.

He chuckled lightly, before he commented, "You are particularly happy this morning."

She chuckled before replying, "I couldn't sleep much after last night's events. And I can't wait to see my parents' reaction when they hear the news."

Hiccup cocked up an eyebrow, before he asked, "You didn't tell them?"

She looked back at him, before she replied, "It's not my secret to tell. Besides, I thought you would like to give them the good news."

He nodded and said, "Well, you did a good job of not telling them."

She just chuckled and replied, "It was hard, and they were terribly suspicious of me, but I just told them about everything else that happened last night at the reunion. They luckily accepted that to be reason enough for me to be so happy last night."

Hiccup smiled and nodded in response, before they walked into the living room, where he quickly looked around in the room. It was a small room, but cosy nonetheless. There were a few couches in the room that were rotated around a small fireplace that was in the wall, with a coffee table in front of them all. Across the room were two other doors that probably led to the kitchen and bedrooms and then there was also another window that showed the small backyard behind the house, while on the rest of the walls there were pictures and items of the family.

But Hiccup's eyes went to the couch, where two people sat, with their backs towards him.

"Mama, Papa," Emma said, "Hiccup's here."
