𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 - 𝐤𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐬𝐮 𝐧𝐨 𝐲𝐚𝐢𝐛𝐚 𝐱 𝐨𝐜

𝗞𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗗𝗢 𝗞𝗜𝗘 was just going back from picking vegetables with her daughter, Nezuko, when they noticed something—or rather, someone—on the lake. They hurriedly dropped the basket they were carrying to save the person in the water.  It is currently winter, so it's not a surprise the mother-daughter duo reacted that way. Whoever is in the lake right now is on the verge of dying.

When they got closer to the lake, they discovered that the person floating in it was a girl the same age as her daughter, who was standing alongside her. 

"Hurry, let's pull her out of the water before it freezes," Kie hastily said to her daughter.  Nezuko, understanding her mother's concern, aided her mother pull out the girl quickly.

After successfully removing the young girl from the lake, Nezuko noticed the baggage that was floating alongside the girl. She thought that the baggage was the girl's belongings, so she carefully picked it up, not minding the freezing water.

The girl needs immediate help; she looks like she's going to drop dead any minute now. Her skin is almost the same color as the snow, and her lips' color is almost purple. Dying from hypothermia is not good at all.

Fortunately, their house is near, so they will be able to save this girl from dying. What is she doing in the lake anyway? Did she get kidnapped, and then the kidnapper just decided she was no use, so they just dumped her in a lake during the winter?

Whatever the reason, Kie feels bothered. How can they let a young girl like her die slowly in freezing weather? Slow death is totally the worst death, in her opinion.

Not soon after, the mother-daughter duo arrived at their house. Calling her eldest son, Kie grabs a dry towel to cover the cold body of the girl.

"Tanjiro! Prepare a warm blanket; this girl is freezing." Her eldest son, Tanjiro, quickly followed her mother's order after seeing the girl's condition.

"Nezuko, can you lend me your extra clothes? This girl's clothing needs to be changed immediately." Hearing her mother's anxious voice, Nezuko put down the girl's belongings together with their basket to get the clothes needed.

Kie removed the girl's clothing drenched in water and carefully put her down on a warm surface. Nezuko arrived shortly and gave her mother the clothes. She ended up helping her mother put the clothes on the girl.

Tanjiro then showed up with the blanket that her mother had asked for. This time, he has his younger brother Shigeru on his back.

Kie took the blanket from her son and mumbled a quick thank you before continuing to check the girl's condition, particularly her breathing.

The girl is unconscious so they need to monitor her breathing carefully, fortunately her breathing is fine so there's no need to perform a resuscitation.

It seems like the girl has been in the lake for a minute or two, so her condition is not that bad. Kie and Nezuko are lucky that they found the girl earlier; if they even find her later, they know that the body they will discover is a corpse.

"What happened, mom?" Tanjiro asks her mother, who just sighed because of tiredness and nervousness.

"We just found her on the lake on our way back here; luckily, we saw her pretty early," Kie responded to her son.

"Where's Takeo?" Kie asks her son again. Tanjiro just said that he told his brother to prepare the tea for them to drink.

Nezuko stood up from the floor, telling both her mother and older brother that she would help her younger brother prepare the tea. Before going out, she told them about the girl's belongings and that they might find something that would give away the girl's identity.

Seeing the said belongings, the Kamado mother-son duo was hesitant at first because the girl may find it offensive if she ever finds out that strangers meddled with her personal belongings.

Tanjiro just decided to point out that they need to find out who the girl is so that if she ever wakes up, they already have an idea on who she is.

They ended up checking the baggage. They found quite a lot of things in the girl's bag. There are books that are mainly about flowers; they've been drenched in water, though, so Tanjiro is not sure if they're still readable or not.

Oh— and there's a locket and pocket watch too, but those weren't the things that got their attention. The one thing that got Kie and Tanjiro's attention was the handkerchief inside the bag. The handkerchief has something embroidered over it.

The handkerchief has a girl's name on it,  the family presumes that this girl's name is...

Haibara Mayu.

𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗛𝗢 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗦:

• the timeline is set four years before the massacre of tanjiro's family.

• rokuta is not born yet, because in episode one rokuta is currently three years old (so yeah kie's gonna be pregnant few months after this event).

• tanjiro's father (tanjuro) is alive he's just working when this event happened.

• yes, the mc here is the same age as nezuko. (don't worry about it though, like i said romance is not the main focus of this story)

the first chapter is finally done! it's short but i hope it's not that bad, considering this is my first time writing a fanfiction ㅜㅜ
