As her alarm sounded indicating she needed to get up she let out a moan and refused to move. She wasn't ready for another day of torture, pain, and sadness. And more Importantly she couldn't handle the pretending to be okay when she got home. She had to make out everything was fine so Wilmer would take the time off he needed. The funeral was in a few days and she could see the change in him. He'd become tense, nervous, shy. All qualities he never had before.
She went downstairs to see her mom and Wilmer sitting at the table with toast and cups of coffee. How she needed one right now.
"Morning" she smiled and sat down next to Wilmer grabbing his hand under the table. He'd been a little distant recently but she was okay with it, she understood this week was going to be trying for the both of them.
"So the school rang" Demi gulped and carried on trying to act normal despite the white sheet that was covering her cheeks.
"They did?"
"Yeah" her mom added. "They want Wilmer to consider just coming in to do exams only and taking the rest of the year off" there were only a few months til summer so in theory it made sense. She couldn't hide her sadness and falsely smiled.
"That sounds great" Demi stood up downing the last of coffee in her mug before leaving. "Oh yeah I forgot I had an early morning revision session" she grabbed her bag and ran out the door before anyone could stop her.
"Do you think that could have gone any worse?" Wilmer asked letting out an needed sigh. He felt defeated. However much he wanted to focus on his exams without the pity looks he wanted to be there for demi. He knew she was struggling at the moment and he wasn't sure if it was all down to him being a little distant as he tried to come to terms with his life changes.
"She'll come round, just give her space" her mom stood behind him with her hands supportively on his shoulders. She knew her daughter and she could never stay mad at him, no matter what he'd said or done.
Demi stomped the whole way to school. She couldn't believe he even considered it, what would possess him to want to leave school and only do exams? She didn't understand his logics. He was intelligent. Well at least she thought so.
It took her only a few moments to realise how selfish she sounded. She knew he needed this time to accept what had happened, and school for him was never fun or worthwhile in the first place. She couldn't imagine not spending that valuable time with him. What would happen when he eventually moved out of her house? She knew her thoughts were slowly consuming her mind and she felt herself fall out of the spell when she felt someone push her into the nearby lockers.
"Oww" she said out loud as everyone who was already watching quickly dispersed and went to there lessons. She brought herself up from the floor and sighed when she noticed a teacher heading over. He'd clearly seen the whole deal.
"Are you okay miss Lovato?" he asked her. He was her math teacher and had always been sweet too her despite her attitude in his class. She enjoyed math a lot, of course no one knew that.
Demi just nodded. She was scared if she said anything her voice would crock and she'd cry. She couldn't cry, not here especially. She wasn't going to let them think they'd won.
She quickly walked away and headed to her lesson. She heard the whispers increases when she walked in and recognized half the faces who had stood and watched her get pushed into the lockers like it was normal. "Did you want to take a picture?" she spat at one of the girls who soon buried her face down. She wasn't playing today.
"Would like to take a seat Demi?" the oldish lady stern reminded her. Class had started a few minutes ago. She quickly found one available next to Ryan. She sighed but sat down. She was still on record and she knew her mom would now discuss anything with Wilmer since he was living with them. It would be impossible for not to know.
"Hey princess" he smiled and leaned towards her desk.
"Don't call me princess you prick" she bite back. This was his entire fault.
"Ohh, I like someone with attitude" she wished for that moment for no one to be there so she could hit his smirk right off face. But instead she sunk further into her seat and concentrated on the board ahead and the work she had to complete.
The bell rang and she shot up as quick as she could, she felt his presence behind so she kept heading towards her locker praying he'd stop where his was a few blocks before hers. She opened the door and felt his breath on her neck.
"You shouldn't run away from me you know"
She felt her skin cruel as his breath merged with her skin. She shook him away from her. "You shouldn't follow me then" she didn't care what he wanted she wanted him anywhere but near her.
"I thought we got on..." he asked.
"You lied to the entire school, you're the reason everyone is pushing me, you're just pathetic" she didn't hide her feelings, she didn't care anymore. She was done. With him, school, everything.
"And? You deserved it. No one has ever rejected me. And for him?" he laughed in her face. "Him seriously? He hasn't even got family now!" he laughed even harder.
Demi felt her entire body shaking, as he laughed harder. She saw the brightness in his face increasing and that's when her hand went up towards his face and her fist collided his cheek.
"Bitch" he screamed out as he felt the droplets of blood dripping slowly from his nostrils.
Demi didn't know what to do. She'd never hit someone before. she looked at her knuckles and saw the small cuts that were forming where she'd broken the skin and ran as fast she could out of the building.
