Thank you so much for the feedback on this for the first few chapters, I’m enjoying this story so much as it’s different from what I normally. This update is extra long as I’m not writing til after Friday as I have three exams next week so fanfiction is being put second… but a few spoilers for the next chapter will be at the bottom of this, thank you!

Demi walked home alone again. Despite being so popular and having so many friends she didn't feel like that ever was the truth. Wilmer's words had gotten under her skin like a disease. He was right and it pained her to know it. Her friends weren't her friends, they didn't care about her, about her family etc. they just cared that she looked and walked the part they wanted. And to a certain extent she'd argue that's all she wanted for herself too. She wasn't used to putting herself first. Her mom was part of the reason why she had grown up looking after someone else, always worrying about how she'd end up instead of herself. She was the same with her friends she wanted them to be happy and not herself. She just didn't feel like she was worth it. What had she ever done to deserve such love and compassion towards herself?
She walked into the house to see her mom making dinner like she normally would. To keep her steady she had to keep to a schedule and it couldn't be changed or their were consequences for her. Demi had sadly found out several times in the past what happens when she had a parent teacher meeting or she finished a dance class late because they had theirs exams and it was highly suspicious if your mom or dad didn't watch.
"Hey momma" Demi set her bag down and kissed her cheek feeling her mom lean into her embrace slightly before she carried on the stirring the pasta.
"Dinner will be ready soon darling" she replied putting the wooden spoon down and began to chop the individual vegetables up on the red chopping board.
Demi excused herself upstairs. She stretched out across her double bed feeling the layers of pillows supporting her back. She grabbed her phone and began flicking through the list of notifications.
She began getting interested when she saw the whatsapp group for her girlfriends and the jocks of the school.
Sandra: "so party tonight at mine???"
Everyone began commenting away til everyone said they were in. As she scrolled through the messages she noticed Sandra next message.
Sandra: "Dems, you in babe?" Demi bite into her lip before replying.
Demi: "Sure! You think I can stay at yours?" She asked. She always stayed with Sandra if they went to parties together. Her mom was totally cool with it all as she still went out drinking regularly, unlike her mom who would ground her for a year if she ever worked any of it out.
Sandra: "course baby girl just gotta help clean in the morning though" she put a tongue sticking out emoji and Demi smiled. It was typical Sandra and she didn't mind cleaning up anyway to be honest it would probably help ease her hangover and make her more sober for when she went home and pretended nothing happened.
Demi: "see you in a few hours!"
Demi's mom shouted her down for dinner so she put her phone on charge and ran downstairs. She sat up the table with her mom and began eating the pasta dish. She loved her mom's cooking. It was always so healthy yet tasty. all of the friends she had invited over commented on her cooking and she knew how good it made her feel. "This is delicious mom" she smiled as she carried on munching away.
