Happy/Merry Christmas Eve everyone! I'm so sorry for the delays in posting this but here it finally is after a very long time (I'm also hoping people are still reading this... we shall soon find out!) Merry Christmas!

Demi had been given a few days off after the funeral. The school has finally seen the affects it had on not only Wilmer but also the young girl who seemed to want to be there at every second. She had of course been mailed homework so when she came back it was like she hadn't left.

Wilmer had gone away for a few days with some distant cousins who came the day after the funeral. They had brought along family photos and other such personal items to prove who they were. Despite being wary of going Demi encouraged him; letting him know she'd be here when he came back. His only condition was to ring her every night and tell her he was okay and safe. He told her he'd do it and so far he hadn't let her down.

They were currently face timing while Demi was in her room.

"I miss you" Demi sighed. She hated how much she relied on him now. She was still the same yet a piece of her felt missing when she didn't see his face every now and then or hear his voice asking a random question like how to make the taps work in the shower.

"I miss you more" he moved his face closer to the screen. "I'll be home the day after tomorrow" he said happily hoping it would cheer her up. He missed kissing her goodnight more than he wished.

"What have you been up too then?" Demi asked him. She wanted to know what he was doing, making sure he was being safe and taking care of himself. She didn't know his family nor how they acted.

"Not a lot really. We're at a cabin near the lakes so just chilling and hanging out I guess" he shrugged his shoulders. He didn't have much to say it was simply the most relaxing vacation he'd ever been on. They'd been fishing and swimming.

"Ahh okay" she giggled into the screen. She noticed him pulling weird faces at her to make her smile; it always worked. "Stop! You're making me miss you" she laughed with a bottom lip sticking out.

"You look like a puppy" he laughed

"A puppy?" A cute one I hope" she smirked

"The cutest in the world" he nodded surely.

"You're just saying that because you want kisses when you're home"

"Yes, but you are also very cute" he admitted truthfully. Demi couldn't help the shade of red her cheeks turned. He always managed to do this to her. "Are you back to school tomorrow?" He said asking the question he wanted to ask all night.

"Yep" she popped the p with an unimpressed expression. "I asked mom about homeschooling but she said no" there was a bitter sense to her tone.

"I wish I was there for you tomorrow" he said.

"Same" she sighed. "I'll be okay, if anything happens I'll text you like I promised okay?" They had made the agreement that night when he left hers after finding out all the trouble she'd been getting because of Ryan's comments.

"And you'll go to principle Reed right?" Wilmer asked. He hated the idea of her going to anyone except him but he knew being 5 hours away didn't make him an emergency contact in that moment if she needed him.

"I will" she replied. She had told her mom the whole story when she returned with Wilmer and her mom had already contacted the principle explaining the situation and giving an understanding to her daughters recent behaviour. Despite the principle saying the issue would be sorted Demi didn't believe him. She knew how cruel kids could be. They wouldn't stop because some man in a suit said please.

She hanged up the FaceTime before pressing her lips to the screen. He'd only been gone a few days so far but she missed his touch against her skin. The way his lips moved swiftly across hers with ease. Everything about him put the invisible hairs on her arms on alert. She went to sleep and knew the next day would be hard.

The next day Demi tried to avoid getting ready. When she heard the door clicking she hid her head under the duvet. Today didn't need to be here just yet.

"Demetria, you've tried this trick since you were old enough to have your own bed" her mom sighed loudly.

"I don't want to go in" she mumbled under her duvet. She felt like she was 5 years old again.

"Demi you either get ready yourself or I'll drag you in wearing whatever you went to bed in last night, don't test me" she stood firm. Demi huffed and threw her duvet back. Her mom was no joker, she would keep a promise if she said it.

She got dressed and left the house without a word to her mom. She knew she'd only try and console her that it wouldn't be that bad but she didn't know Ryan and the others like she did. She watched them give everyone else hell.

As soon as she walked into the main hallway the corridor went silent. Like someone had switched a record off. She kept her head low and headed towards her locker. Thankfully she only needed a few books today so she could keep in classes rather than heading back and fourth.

She walked towards her first class and sat in her usual seat. She noticed Ryan walk in and sit in the seat opposite her. She wanted to walk out right then but she promised she'd let the school sort it out. She hadn't told her mom everything about that night, just enough that she wouldn't ask more questions she didn't want to answer.

"Everyone settle down." Mr. Thornton said loudly at the front. Demi was thankful everyone had quieted down and the stares began to ease off as she calmed herself down and focused on the board in front of her the equations she had to answer.

The day had gone smoothly, no one had come up to her, or teased her. The stares remained but she could deal with that. She knew Ryan was itching to say something to her but he was clearly keeping his mouth shut because of what the principle had told him. This wasn't his first run in with him and now he must have been on his last warning or he'd fail the year.

She walked home quickly wanting to get inside so she could do her homework then quickly FaceTime Wilmer before going to bed. Today had exhausted her and she still had three more days to go til the weekend and when she saw Wilmer properly. As promised he had texted her often throughout the day asking for updates and if she was okay. She didn't want to be repetitive but things were better.

"Hi mom" She chirped as she walked in the door. She put her bag down its usual place and grabbed a glass to fill with fresh water.

"Hi darling" she hummed back. She was already preparing food for this evening. "Dinner will be ready soon, why don't you go get changed?" Demi nodded. It wasn't unusual for her mom to ask her to change. It simply meant she didn't get her uniform dirty as quickly and meant any stains could be washed out quicker.

Demi took her phone out of her pocket and began to text Wilmer saying she was home safely when she opened the door and it fell to the ground. Her hand had lost all sense when she saw who was standing there in the middle of her room. She didn't know why but she ran towards him, her body wanting to be as close as possible to him. she wrapped her arms tightly around her boyfriend's neck; never wanting to let go.

"Wilmer what are you doing here?" she playfully punched him in the chest. She was so happy yet shocked.

"I couldn't let you be alone on your first day back to school after everything" he said sincerely.

"But camping?" she asked.

"You're more important" he kissed her lips gently and grabbed her hand pulling her back into his chest. He'd missed holding her like this. Feeling her breath into the crook in his neck, listening to her heartbeat.

"Now how about you tell me about your day while we eat dinner?" he laughed and led the way back downstairs.
