Red String of fate AU
A magical connection between soulmates that has existed ever since the beginning of time. It ensures that the soulmates find each other at the right time and keeps them bonded. The magic is ancient, created by a very strong magician during a famine that nearly wiped out more than half the population of earth. To ensure the growth of a strong and healthy human race, he created a spell called the Red string of fate to bind most biologically and emotionally compatible humans to each other.
The spell continues to exist, getting passed on genetically even though the magician and his race are long dead. The spell will bind two soulmates with a red string that will be visible as soon as the soulmates get very close to each other, i.e into the line of sight. The bond will make them attracted to each other. As soon as the red string gets visible, the soulmates will need to touch each other i.e maintain skin contact as much as possible in order to maintain the energy levels in their body. If the soulmates go without touching each other, the energy in their body starts falling, eventually making them sick and if gone for too long without each other's touch, resulting in death. The need for skin contact might reduce with time, but will never go away as long as they are alive. As the population continues to grow, there have been variations and exceptions in this spell. But the core of the spell, i.e. each other's touch to survive, remains the same.
The timeline is not specific. You can imagine whichever era Min Yoongi you like. I have mostly used a reference frame of the 2018-19 era though I haven't followed it strictly. There's no specific or realistic order of events. I have tried my best to show you the realistic version of what would happen and what Yoongi and BTS would be like as per my understanding of them. They still use dorms whenever they have group activities but also have their own houses so they live wherever they feel convenient. I have shifted the timelines a bit and because the pandemic occurs in 2016-17 you can imagine the albums and concerts shifting. though again, I haven't mentioned anything specific to avoid any kind of confusion.
